Introduction

Pioneer, a name that does not bedazzle most people who have a moderate knowledge of speaker's for car's or even speaker's in the home because, Pioneer have it all under their belt.

Introducing the economy range of pioneer's range and the title of TSG hitting them off, these little babies have a maximum power handling of 120Watts per channel, or 25watts RMS per channel (true power rating). I base these facts on the 13cm model, this is the size i will be reviewing.

13cm, just one size above the minimum standard car speakers go, you may be thinking well they are small, so, they are not going to have much power then? well i can tell you from using them, they do to a certain extent, in other words, you get the best possible sound from the 13cm range. These speakers look and feel great, they are fairly heavy for a speaker, but that is just the magnet's weight.

I got these free with a pioneer cd player i purchased at motorworld, very convinient since i needed a new set of speakers for the front, i was pleased to hand over 119.99 of my hard earned cash to get 2 quality products. Once i got home i installed the speakers with no hassle, my car is a Ford Fiesta MKIII, it's simply a matter of taking off the door panel (sounds hard but just a few screws) then drilling four holes into the vehicle bodywork with a standard drill, again very easy, just mark the dots with a pen and there you go. Next step was to solder up the new speakers with the old ones cut out the wiring ISO was removed, so the two wires could be connected to the new speaker terminals. Then its just a matter of popping them in the manufacturer's premade hole and then screwing the speaker in with the holes you made, easy!

So the question is, do they sound better? i mean, the ford orignals were at a rating of 20watts RMS anyway... but yes they do, the ford originals are cheap and nasty, with their cardboard cones and cheaply made components it does not take much to get a better sounding speaker, the sound is quite treblely sounding but there is a fair level of bass present, i certainly noticed the improvement of changing them over.

The only nack i found with these speakers is that they do lack in power, you will not be able to pull much sound out of these, unless of course your running an amp, which im not!

They are good up to the point where you think, i need more power, thus, decide to go for some bigger stuff, but why all the hassle, they are the proper fitment for the car, so no more cutting of bodywork is required and they install so easily i did not need a single bit of instruction, im not expert either i just am a bit handy when it comes to speakers.

I advise to get these speakers if you are looking for a budget sound system with fair power, but if you are looking for top-notch stuff, then i suggest you look into more expensive and larger pioneer stuff, why pioneer? because they are the best money can buy.
