Legend has it that in medieval times the children of Hamelin were led East into ... more
Transylvania... In bleak post Ceausescu Rumania, the author a psychiatric researcher absorbed with the high incidence of mental illness among the women of Alva, a remote mountain village near the border with Russia, uncovers a horrific history of ritual child murder.
Advantages: Full of emotion and feeling, plenty of detail... Disadvantages: Hard to put down, can draw tears to the eyes
what Billie says about not really paying attention to the 'unknown' acts at concerts and performances, so it would obviously have been an unbearable atmosphere to get up on stage at the start of your pop career and perform for a bunch of kids who could not care if you weren't there. But being the determined soul that she is, Billie kept going passed this! I think I wouldn't want to do under-18 clubs performances given the chance, but the school tours Piper embarked upon seemed like fun! Billie also mentions her boyfriend in this chapter - David. I can understand how her relationship between her and her friends back in Swindon must have been tough during her career launch.
Chapter four starts off with a date, stating when Because We Want To was released. I own this track on several different singles and albums, and I can see how it went to ...
Advantages: Honest, compelling, interesting, entertaining, humorous... fab! Disadvantages: If you too remember Billie's popstar days at all fondly then this may disappoint you
In Celeb World age is just a number; celebrities live life in the fast lane and speed rapidly through all the milestones of marriage, kids and more. Failure to have had at least two marriages, three kids, four different career paths and two properties in two different continents by the age of thirty is the true epitome of failure in an industry where having everything and doing everything is key. Billie has experienced more than many of us will experience in our entire lifetimes. No young girl could have failed to have been intrigued over the years by the career and personal life ...
Advantages: Certificate PG so it's suitable for nearly everyone Disadvantages: The cinema is expensive and this film is very average
This film is due on general release in the UK shortly but I thought I'd write about it as I had a sneak preview.
This PG film directed by Garry Marshall stars Kate Hudson as Helen Harris, a woman who "inherits" guardianship of her nieces and nephew when her sister and brother-in-law die in an accident. Joan Cusack and John Corbett co-star. The children are played rather well by Hayden Panettiere (Audrey), Spencer Breslin (Henry) and Abigail Breslin (Sarah).
Helen's glamourous New York modelling world is turned upside down as she tries to be a parent. Her sister Jenny already has children and can't resist interfering. Gradually the two women come to an understanding, as they also come to terms with the loss of their other sister. Jenny doesn't work and she's rather self-righteous but she's actually quite jealous of her sister ...
