Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (PSP)

Advantages: Boss battles with touch screen
Disadvantages: Generally everything else

...The much awaited third Pirates of the Caribbean game on DS, and, for me, it did not live up to the expectations. Admittedly the idea of being a pirate fighting other people can't be too bad, but so much else was poor: The graphics could have been better. There are not many levels. It doesn't take advantage of the touch screen, it is only really used for boss battles (which are quite good). There is very little skill required in ordinary battles, and so it gets quite repetitive. So, with the exception of the good boss battles and the mini game of liars dice (which can also be played as multiplayer), the game really only got the good publicity because of its name, not the game quality. Advantages: Fun to play
Disadvantages: May be boring

...Having played the first Pirates Of The Caribbean game and being impressed by graphics but puzzled by the gameplay, and the Legend Of Jack Sparrow which I thought was a brilliant explanation of Sparrow's adventures, this game was no disappointment. Though it could probably have done with some longer cut-scenes between levels to explain, if you have seen the movies then you'll know exactly what's happening (though sometimes out of sequence to films). The extra mini-games such as Pirates Dice are amusing and an added extra from the previous game. I would definitley recommend this is you are a Pirates fan or if you love good action sword-fighting games! Kids will love this game, however adults may find it a bit tedious. x... Read review

...If you're a die hard fan of the story of pirates of the caribbean then this game might not sit well with you. The story has been changed to suit a game rather than sticking to the films. The game play is easy to get into and fun to play though it is not as good as the last pirates of the caribbean game The graphics are amazing in some places, but at some points mid game the graphics change and are not so good. Definatly do not buy this game if you want to play it with two players. They have removed the multiplayer element that used to be in the last game and replaced it with dueling and a mode to kill as many people as possible. The game overall is OK but it is not worth buying new at £40. If you see it cheap it is an ok game to pass a few days.... Read review
