Pit is perhaps one of the best card games i have ever played. The simplicity is excellent for partys but I wouldnt recomend playing with people under 8 as it might just go way over there heads despit it being a generally simple game.
the main aim of the game is to collect a set (9cards) of one product e.g. Barley, Rye, Wheat tc. The first player to get a complete set wins. If it doesnt sound to ineresting yet then this next part will definatly change your mind.
In pit there are no turns, just trading with other players for instance 2 wheat for 2 barley exept you cant see what your trading making it a bit hit and miss on what you get.
Often there is an item no one wants and i find its a good idea to collect that as its being given away by other players.I shant try to explain the rules full as they are quite complicated but once you no them you wont forget and ts easy after that.
The result is absolute chaos as everyone shouts out their numbers and grabs what they can franticly trying to finish first by collecting there desierd set and calling PIT!
But the louder and more frantic it is, the more exciting it becomes and it becomes highly amusing when gandma can shout just as loud as granson when battling it out for that last card.
There are other cards you can put in, like wild cards etc to add even more excitement (or confusion!) if you desire.
You can play around 4 or 5 rounds before you loose your voice, or as much time as you've got spare, but I've managed to play around 7 games when my auntie came to stay! For maximum enjoyment I would recomend that you play with around 6 people.
Definatly great value for money as its only a pack of cards, amazing how much fun something this simple can generate, well worth buying.
I've not played this in a while, but I do have my own set - just no-one to play with! I was introduced to the game about 20 years ago, and have never forgotten it!
