We arrived ten minutes before the photographer returned from lunch and saw it was already set up with a step covered in a white sheet with a white backdrop.
There was one lady in front of us and we waited for nearly an hour for this lady to have a sitting while my son got more tired and bored. I had a voucher to have a free photo and sitting so I took my son with friend to a mobile photo shoot in Boots. We arrived ten minutes before the photographer returned from lunch and saw it was already set up with a step covered in a white sheet with a white backdrop. There was one lady in front of us and we waited for nearly an hour for this lady to have a sitting while my son got more tired and bored. My friend’s daughter sat though and there were plenty of good photos and they print out the photo’s tempting you to buy a picture of your little one. The complimentary photo is the first shot but if you are unhappy with it they do repeat and there is a choice of head shot or full body.
When it was my turn my son had waited over an hour and a half he was tired grumpy and completely fed up. He refused in anyway shape and form to cooperate even sitting down never mind looking at the camera. I finally gave up and took him for a walk and bought him a banana and tried to calm him down before we had a last attempt. I was quite surprised how unchild friendly the photographer was and seemed to be quite annoyed that he was not going to do what she wanted so we gave up got in the car and he happily drifted off to sleep.
I did however decide to return to a mobile shoot at another branch of Boots and go early in the morning.
I arrived and there was no queue and this time there were two staff. I had to complete information including name of child, date of birth and address.
My son was then sat on the seat and they require you to but your hand under the sheet to prevent your child falling off the back.
I was asked if I wanted a full body shot or head shot. I chose a full body shot but my son still didn’t co operate and refused to smile. This time however I did have a different experience. The photographer seemed to be much more child friendly and eventually managed to get a head shot with my son smiling.
She continued to cajole my son and encourage him to play suing balloons, teddy’s and toy ducks. She did spend quite a while trying to build and layout bricks spelling his name out but he was not having and of it and kept knocking them off and laughing.
She did not get what she considered to be the full package but as far as I was concerned I was very happy with what she had achieved.
After this the other lady spent ten minutes sorting out the photos while I wondered around the store.
I was shown the entire photo collection including my complimentary photo and there were two photos are that I loved. The first was of my son laughing which considering the start seemed like a miracle and the other of him looking at a teddy bear in wonder. I was shown the photo’s in black and white but as I prefer colour photo’s. This part of the session seemed to be purely sales and they were offering packages that cost over £100. I chose to have the complimentary picture and the 12× 10 picture which cost me £25 .The lady was encouraging me to buy the other picture I loved and was stating that if I didn’t buy it at that session then if I wanted to order it at a later date the price would go up to about £65 .I had to pay for at the Boots counter and return with my receipt. I did get boots points for my purchase. I was told it could take up to 28 days delivery and it came in about a fortnight in a cardboard backed envelope. I was very pleased with my purchase and they are proudly now framed and on my wall.
I would recommend to people while it does depend upon the photographer about the experience and have an idea in your head how much you would be prepared to spend before you go as you could be drawn in to looking at so many pictures of your little one’s

Advantages: BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS, 7 DIFFERENT POSES, LOVELY STAFF Disadvantages: MONEY IS A LOT TO SHELL OUT ALL AT ONCE
Pixie photos are the mobile photographers and they are part of Portrait Place. You have probably seen them advertised in Boots, Woolworths and other place with an offer of 12"x10" for £4.99 and additional poses will cost extra. Let me tell you be prepared for some beautiful photos. I use them regularly, just for the £4.99 offer but I'm always disappointed that I can not come away with the 7 pose collection which is £70. A lot of money I hear you ... ...£70 you get a 7 pose collection, each pose consists of; 1 10x8 2 4x4 4 3x3 all sizes approx. Each pose collection cost £40 but only £5 for each additional pose collection, so the more you buy the cheaper it costs. You can also buy them separately starting from £17 for the 10x8 I have brought a whole collection when Jess was 10 mths old at Xmas 1998 and they made beautiful pressies to the family. I have kept one 10 x 8 pose from each and they are ...

Advantages: Specialise in Family Photographs, Based in larger stores eg Mothercare Disadvantages: Free Photo not of the best quality, skill questionable, not cheap!
Pixi Photo are a professional photography company specialising in children and family photographs. The settings are relaxed but fun and children are encouraged to play so that the photographer is able to capture the perfect natural picture. Pixi Photo offer many different offers/VIP specials to suit the type of photo shoot you want. They are popular and well distributed, I found the branch I used in my local Mothercare store. First and formost I ... ...and decorate my living room wall today. I found the staff in the branch I visited to be knowledgable, helpful and friendly. I purchased a VIP card which enabled me to have three separate sittings with a free Large photograph each time and no obligation to purchase any other photos. I believe this VIP card cost me about £20-25. Good Value in my opinion at the time.
On the day of the sitting my children were pleasent but not as forthcoming with smiles ...

Advantages: Friendly staff Disadvantages: Very very expensive, very poor timekeeping, questionable price transparency
When we arrived for our first scheduled appointment with Pixi Foto we were asked to come back in 15 minutes because they were running late. 15 minutes later we were again asked to delay for 15 minutes. This continued until we were an hour late. By this time our 4 month old daughter was unsettled and needed changing and feeding. There was no way we would have managed to get any decent photos so we rescheduled the appointment. To be fair, the Pixi ... ...10% discount - giving us a total of 70% off (or so they claimed) to compensate for our wasted journey. The second appointment was almost on time (10 minutes late). However it was double booked - we were given priority because of the problems with the previous appointment - the other family was asked to return after we had finished. It was all quite disorganised. The photos themselves were fairly good. The photographer interacted very well with our ...

Advantages: good photographer, good deals with free photos Disadvantages: overpriced, bad customer service, no price list available, not available on CD
i went to pixie photos permanent studio in mothercare world at team valley retail park, gateshead. I had purchased the VIP card before going as it seemed like a good deal a free 10x12 photo plus 10% off any other photos i purchased. The photographer took the free photo first, which took about 10mins to get a decent shot as my son is only 2 months old. I was happy with that shot and we went on to hte rest of the shoot. Once the shoot was over, we ... ...and sort them out. I went to view the photos and asked the price, the package was 750 quid, so i deleted some of the worst photos to get the price down, all the photos were also at size 10 x12, i asked the woman if they did any smaller sizes, which she said they did 8x10 so i got her to resize all the photos to this size, the price came down to 550 quid which was still more than i was willing to pay. There were 3 photos which were big a 16 x 20 a ...

I first went to pixie fotos in mother care in cardiff when my son was 3 weeks and the photographers were amazing and they made me and my partner feel so welcome and when they showed us our photos they helped us go through them step by step and told us we can pay the total in up to 8 weeks and since then ive been back again BUT the mobile pixie fotos i saw in boots were totaly different i was rushed in to a desision were the prices were stupid and ... ...them to be delivered and phoned where they said they would re send them (dont think they did in the first place) and that would take another 21 days and all they gave me in return for all the hassel was a 20% off voucher which really means if i use it id be spending more money. In my opinion id avoid the mobile studios with their 4.99 portrait offer even if you buy 1 extra set it costs a lot but i loved the mothercare studio one and will definatly ...
