The shelves in Boots were cram packed with sun tan lotions of every description, some instant, like the one from Piz Buin I purchased, some just for sun protection. I had read somewhere that Victoria Beckham favoured Piz Buin and on finding their instant tan, I decided to give it a go. After all, Victoria always sports a lovely tan, if a bit dark sometimes.
I exfoliated my legs thoroughly so the lotion would have a good base. In fact I scrubbed them so hard they were red at the end - instant colour! Then I smoothed on the self tan lotion carefully, taking extra care on bumpy bits such as my knees, ankles and feet. The lotion is coloured so that you can see where you are applying it. It said on the box that it would take 30 minutes to reach the colour it was going to be, so I clock-watched for the next half-hour.
When the 30 minutes were up, my legs were a bit brown, admittedly, but not as brown as I thought they would be. Still, that was better than nothing, I thought. It said on the box that it would last up to 7 days and would wear off naturally. The colour seemed to be even and I thought it was quite convincing.
The next morning when I woke up and glanced down at my newly tanned legs, I was horrified to see that they were now a blotchy dark orangey-brown colour and a lot darker than the evening before. Across my ankles, knees and feet the colour changed several times and I had a tide mark down each side of my legs!
Disaster!!!! I jumped in the shower (well, I ambled across to it) and scrubbed my legs to try and get rid of the colour or at least tone it down a bit. Nope, it didn't work. Some of the colour came off, yes, but it now looked even worse. I looked as if I hadn't washed my legs in ages. I couldn't believe it.
Three days later the mottled colour was still there regardless of the showers I'd had. The colour did disappear slightly every day, but not in a natural way. In fact I found that it disappeared on various sections of my legs. Can you imagine how that looked??
I couldn't wear my three quarter length trousers or shorts, and this was when the weather was HOT. No, I had to walk around in my jeans and long trousers. People must have thought I was mad.
I am now back to my lilywhitish legs. Hurrah! I will never, never use this product again. I can't believe that this is the one Victoria Beckham uses. She probably goes to a Salon anyway to have it done, lucky her.
This wasn't cheap at around £9.50 and it was a complete waste of money.
Advantages: I did not pay for the product myself!, did not stain bedding or clothes Disadvantages: Smell, price, colour, results, naff packaging,just everything really
...to let me use her Piz Buin mid self tan lotion, which she had purchased a couple of weeks earlier but never got round to using. 'Yippee!', I thought, I would use it that very evening! The Product.
This product is a lotion squeezed from a tube and of a sloppy consistency. The packaging of this product is basically beige, orange and bland. My first impressions were that for the price (£11.99), it looked cheap and rather tacky. Briefly the box states ... ...for 200ml, in comparison, the Piz Buin one costs £11.99 for 150ml. Quite a difference in price and performance!
So if you are a fair skinned lady, here is my advice on Piz Buin mid self tan lotion: AVOID THIS PRODUCT, DO NOT TOUCH IT EVER!!!
N.B. I note that backstreet woman had a similar experience with this product. If only I had read her review before I went ahead and used it!(I have only been a member of Ciao for a few days). I have also informed ...

...scar and those that dont. Piz buin is one that only tans it slightly so they don't blend in as well as other ones (will be doing an op soon on one that I have found that does tan them so look out for it if you do have scars to hide). It is because of this that I have only given it a good rating.
As some extra info it is now some 6 days since first application and it says it lasts for a min of 7 days, I thought this would be the standard 2-3 great ...

Advantages: No smell! More noticeable colour! Alright price. Disadvantages: Can be streaky if not careful!
I bought the Piz Buin ''summer sensation'' MAX self tan from boots for roughly £7 (I bought two as it seemed rather well priced for good quality self-tan) This is the one that comes in the brown box (150ml of self tan).
I purchased the MAX version as I am so pale I didn't want a modest change in skin colour, I wanted a glowing tan for going on holiday. This certianly did work!! Although I did get made fun of slightly by my siblings for being a bit ... ...It says in the instructions it should last about a week but in my experience I'd say it lasts for about 5 days, getting slightly lighter each day. It takes 2 hours to dry which can be rather anoying (can't wash hands while your drying as this would remove it and need to wash off palms of hands after applying which is tricky in order to keep the water from washing the tan off from ontop of hands). I have had streaky arms and hands on many occassion ...

...good long lasting colour! This piz buin tanner is easily my second choice however. I cannot afford to always get spray tans and so this is perfect for just day to day use. Having tried fake tans before I already know to only put on a fairly minimal amount, and when rubbing in do so in circular patterns - that way you don't get streaks, however much people may say you so. I buy the MAX tanner - the one in the brown box - instead of normal one, and ... ...a special offer too in which case its good to buy a few more bottles. It does give a very slight instant colour as it says it will, yet I dont believe the 'develops in 30 minutes' comment as although a small colour comes through then, I generally find a couple of hours will result in the full intensity of a colour.
As with all self tanners, you cannot put on too many layers without exfoliating and moisturising inbetween as otherwise you gt a scaley ...

Advantages: Piz Buin are making a fotune! Disadvantages: Everything!
...white box with Piz Buin scrolled accross in orange ( A sign if ever I seen one!). When looked at this product does not jump out at you, the box and lettering used are very bland and boring which I suppose is an advantage as people would not look at it and automatically think wooow that looks pretty! Therefore, would most probably not be tempted to buy it.
