Firstly, I’d like to point out I’ve not been frequenting the hallowed pages of ciao for quite some time so my reviewing skills may not quite be up to scratch but hey – I’ve got to get back into the swing of things some time so here goes…!
--------------------------------- The Product and Packaging ---------------------------------- I’m not the pastiest of all people – thanks to my Mediterranean mother. I do however, like to look tanned when I strip off for snuggies with my boyfriend. My mother always told me that tanned skin can hide a multitude of sins. And of course I’m well aware of the risks of excessive exposure to the sun. So on a recent day of self-indulgence, I chose not to visit the solarium and instead offered for a can of Piz Buin max self-tan spray which was on special offer at my local Superdrug store.
I’m sure many of you will have seen the ads which claim that the product dries in just ten minute, leaving no stains on your clothes. Well I’m a sucker for advertising and, combined with the 1/3 off discounted price – how could I resist?
The 150ml bottle has a recommended retail price of £7.99. It did initially sound very dear to me but in comparison to other self tans on the same shelf, this seemed the standard price you should expect to pay. The product comes in a white bottle with the orange Piz Buin name emblazoned across the front. When purchased, the bottle is presented in a similar white and orange box. A quick word of warning here – don’t throw the box away!! For some silly reason, the directions for use aren’t actually provided on the bottle itself but are instead supplied in numerous languages on the inside of the box.
------------- Directions ------------- As with all self-tan products you’re advised to prepare your skin first by cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. Then simply spray onto your skin, remembering to apply it sparingly to dryer areas of skin. Allow to dry for 10 minutes and then dress. The product will start to develop in an hour so don’t shower or wash it off during this initial period. Development then continues for a few hours afterwards.
--------------- My Opinion --------------- Oh dear! Thanks god the rains have come today is all I can say as I’ve got a good reason to cover up now! I was dubious of this and rightly so it would seem. I took a very long and hot bath, shaved my legs and exfoliated. I then dried off and moisturized the skin. My preparation was impeccable. Out came the can which has spray action similar to a can of deodorant. I had anticipated a fin mist of he product but instead it came out in large droplets making an even application almost impossible.
I rubbed the product in to try and even it out and carefully washed my hands before chilling out butt naked in front of the tv. I have to say at this stage that the product felt sticky and quite uncomfortable in my skin for at least 20 minutes after application.
Having just got out of the bath, I saw no need to wash the product off (especially since this wasn’t recommended in the instructions.) And so instead I got dressed and awaited the return of my boyfriend. No comment was made at my new sexy bronzed legs when he arrived back but then again – even I couldn’t see any change.
And so an evening was passed in front of the tv and we went to bed. Chris work up at the crack of dawn to go to work and I got up a couple of hours later. I checked out my gorgeous tanned legs and – horror of horrors! – they were more streaky than tesco’s value bacon! I’d followed the instructions to a tee and yet the results were the stuff nightmares are made of.
I should also warn you that it takes quite a while for the results to fade away so if you do chose to use this product, you may run the risk of having to spend a summer dressed as the abominable snowman. I hope those who read this will take heed – I unfortunately didn’t check out other ciaoer’s opinions before using this and so I only have myself to blame! Steer well clear!!!

Advantages: Erm.......none? Disadvantages: Smeared, badly designed, crap and generally disastrous
...silvery white bottle with the Piz Buin logo emblazoned in orange across it. There are no instructions on the bottle, just the words "Self Tan Spray" in ten languages. But then you would know that having bought the stuff wouldn't you? Because it comes in a smooth, silvery white box with the same written across it. The box collapses open into a flat sheet with the instructions for use printed on the inside- very useful. Yes, of course I see myself ... ...best friend tells me the Piz Buin quick dry mousse had much the same effect on her as this did on me, and she's a lot more adept at these things than I am. However, I got it right first time with the lotion, which must count for something!
VERDICT:
If you want to look like a zoo animal, be my guest. Otherwise, unless you're the beauty queen of the UK, I'd steer well clear. Alex :) ...

Advantages: It isn't permanent Disadvantages: patchy, spray not fine enough, nasty colour
...you will need this with Piz Buin Self Tan Spray!
I decided to buy this on a whim yesterday, it had a third off in the chemists and as the full price was £11.99 I thought it must be a good quiality product. So when I got home yesterday, I gave it a try and used it on my arms, legs and face. (Note, before I started I had had a shower, and used an exfoliator and moisturised). The first thing I noticed was that the spray wasn't very good, it didn't ... ...help kick-start your tan. If you haven't used one before, maybe try it on a part of your body than no-one will see! I think you will be impressed with the results and it will give you the confidence to try it all over. But please don't use Piz Buin! ...

...after spending over £50 on PIZ BUIN lotion for my face, the spray for my bod as this was the one that had a different tan for those pale folk and exfoliating, and moisturizing stuff.

Advantages: Easy to apply, good colour Disadvantages: doesn't smell too hot
...version. I decide upon PIz Buin spray. The packaging is unfussy, off-white/silver box with orange writing containing an off-white/silver bottle with orange writing. And the price tag was pretty reasonable for what is a product by this well-known company.
So I clear the bathroom of literally everything that could possibly be stained by my vain spray, strip off and get to work. I start on my legs. The spray is freezing and doesn't smell too great. ... ...my left leg and get to work, rubbing it in using circular motions. I find that it rubs in quickly and easiy. I take care over the ankles, rubbing just the excess spray from my leg into them and my feet. And so the process continues , moving on to the top of my left leg and then the right leg.
Next I do my left arm, from the top downwards, remembering to be careful at the elbows and to make sure I cover all the arm. Then its across the chest and ...

Advantages: Dries quickly. Yes, that's it. Disadvantages: No colour at all.
Over the years I've tried almost every brand of self-tan on the shelves. I've tried wipes, mousses, sprays, oils and creams - but I can honestly say that this is the worst self-tan product I have ever tried. Please do not buy this!
APPLICATION
I applied this spray in a pasty leg panic - a few hours before a night out.
The spray itself was easy enough to apply. I moisturised my knees and feet beforehand. The spray is very runny and easy to rub ... ...thighs and worked my way down - taking extra care at my feet. The spray dried really quickly, but the usual self-tan giveaway smell lingered around me for a few hours. I did feel a bit sticky afterwards, and my skin didn't feel very nice. ONE HOUR LATER
The tan was supposed to begin to appear an hour after application. By the time two and a half hours had passed there was still nothing. "See, this is why I visit the sunbed on a regular basis," my ...

Advantages: Better for your health Disadvantages: Can look awful if applied wrong
...I bought the PizBuin Mousse after seeing the advert on TV showing a girl walking around like a zombie, waiting for her fake tan to dry.
The advert says that you don't need to wait very long with this fake tanning product because it dries instantly.
Personally I think I've wasted my money. I bought this from Tesco's for just over £10 for 125ml.
I followed all the usual instructions like exfoliating and moisturising but when I woke up the next day I was absolutely gutted. I was quite confident that this fake tan would turn out really nice but I had streaky arms, neck and legs.
I'm sorry PizBuin but 've gone back to using my Ambre Solaire Express Bronzer Self-TanningSpray. I still only use it on my face and neck and after my PizBuin mousse experience I'm still very reluctant to use it all over.
Another thing I noticed...
