Pizza Hut has to be the most popular pizza place in the country and most towns and cities have at least one. My relationship with Pizza Hut started in my student days (it’s great when you’ve been out drinking!) and even though I’ve left uni, I still visit regularly.

So, what’s it all about…..

THE RESTAURANT

Every branch I have visited has been very clean, tidy and well presented. My only gripe is that they tend to turn the air con up a bit high in the summer! The staff are well trained, very helpful and the service is very quick. They also regularly visit your table to make sure everything is ok and check if you want refills or more drinks. The décor is quite tasteful, not too bright but not dingy. There are normally some modern paintings on the walls.

THE FOOD……

THE BUFFET LUNCH

The buffet lunch has got to be one of the best ideas any fast food/chain restaurant has ever come up with. At Pizza Hut you can have as much pasta, pizza and salad as you like between 12 and 2.30pm (mon to fri only)…..all for the bargain price of £4.99! There are no limitations on how often you can pile up your plate with goodies either. To accompany you’re meal you can also order a refillable soft drink for £1.35.

The choice at the buffet is excellent, there are normally around 4 different varieties of pizza (vegetarians catered for), a couple of pasta dishes and plenty of salad to accompany it. It’s not just lettuce, tomato and cucumber either, there’s sweetcorn, beetroot, potato salad, coleslaw….need I go on?!?

THE PIZZA MENU

As the name suggests there is a lot of pizza to choose from. However, there are also a few pasta dishes. The pizzas come in various sizes, from individual ones to family size and you can have stuffed crusts (filled with cheese), thin crusts, deep pan crusts or no crusts at all…..all this before you even get to the toppings! There are a range of set pizzas you can choose from such as your traditional Hawaiian, you can add extra toppings as you wish or even create your own. The list of toppings to choose from is very extensive. When I go with the other half we normally have different toppings on the 2 halves of the pizza, a brilliant idea if you go with someone who’s as pickie as he is and you want to try something different.

DESSERTS

I can’t comment on these as I’ve always been far to full from starters and pizza to even contemplate a dessert. I keep meaning to leave room for some ice cream from the ice cream factory. This is where you serve yourself with a bowl of ice cream and add various toppings such as smarties.

WHEN THINGS GO WRONG....

There have been two occasions when I’ve visited pizza hut and not all has gone to plan. The first was when the other half and me went with another couple. There was a slight delay with their pizza and we had finished eating ours by the time it came…..we didn’t have to complain, the manager was informed of what had happened by a member of staff, he then came over to us to apologise and said we could have all 4 starters free, the soft drinks free and the pizza which was late free….you can’t say fairer than that, we ended up with a meal for 4 for just £15!! Bargain! The second time (a different restaurant) our starter was a tad overdone, the waiter didn’t bother to bring it out to us, he explained the situation and as it was going to be a short wait we could have if for free…..I think we only waited about 2 minutes and it was on the table.

All in all, I find pizza hut extremely good value. Even without the freebies, the price for a meal is very reasonable. Two starters, a medium pizza and 2 drinks normally cost around £13-14.
