Plantronics Discovery 655 Headset

...to be this one, the Plantronics 655.

What can I say about it? it works. it charged up and the next morning it turned in on, held down the power button and waited for the light to flash alternate red and blue. I then scanned for it with my PDA phone and it found it, prompting for the security code. I keyed 0000 and the pairing was complete.

"Fine" he said "Are you not using the Bluetooth today?"

At the end of the call I pressed the button again and the call ended. I had made a minor adjustment to the volume, using the + - rocker switch and those are all the controls there are.

I seem to get through these things at a regular rate. I came home the other day and went to put my earpiece on charge when I discovered that it wasn't there. The wire ear loop was there and the ear gel, but the body of the earpiece had somehow gone missing, somewhere between Bristol and Swanage, so if anyone spots a lonely earpiece hanging from a tree send it home.

In time its replacement arrived and turned out to be this one, the Plantronics 655.

It isn't the cheapest earpice but I've had those and they are horrible, lousy voice quality, poor battery life and uncomfortable to wear is what you get for £10. whenever I take it out it gets dumped into my toolbox and suffers no ill effects. I've had it for about a month now and have no complaints at all.

I think this is definitely the best way to get handsfree in the car, the cables are a pain as they aren't usually long enough and fall out of my ears when I turn my head. I don't need to unplug when I get out of the car, I just take the phone out of the holder and put it in my pocket, I can talk to people on the phone and repair machines at the same time.

Despite all the dire warnings from the police the roads are still full of people hand holding their phones, the threat of fines and pictures of mangled cars aren't getting the message across. when you consider that a good bluetooth headset still costs less than a tank of petrol this is unforgivable, especially when the worst offenders are the drivers of 38 ton trucks and inexperienced youngsters tearing around in their recycled Ford Fiestas.
