Philips 37PF9946 Advantages: Good Picture Quality, Wall Mount Kit Included, Good Design Disadvantages: Not HD ready I purchased a 37" Philips plasma TV after looking for a wall mountable TV that wouldn't dwarf my living room but also wouldn't look too small. In the end my decision was made after getting a good deal at my local Co-op which enabled me to get a price match plus an extra 10% any high street price. The TV was advertised for £2300 in Comet and I took the brochure to the Co-op who incidentally had the same TV advertised for £2800. After the price match ... ...asked if I wanted a Philips DVD recorder for £69 which retailed at £269, I jumped at the chance. To make the deal even sweeter they also did 2 years interest free credit which I gladly accepted and left my cash in the bank making interest. The TV itself is impressively large without being ridiculous, it also came with a wall mount bracket which was a bonus, as the Sony model I'd looked at required an optional £400 bracket. expensive but wouldnt be without it Advantages: Plasma is viewable from nearly every angle Disadvantages: you cant sit on it Firstly, I am going to try to convince all my fellow ciao members, out there, That every one should have a Plasma screen T.V And that my choice of Phillips FlatTV 42" Plasma Screen, is second to none. I believe every home should have one. It started last Christmas, 2004 We were having to have New year's eve at home, in our average size two bedroom flat, That I occupy as a live in warden for the elderly. £720 for 42"? Thats £17.14 per inch! Advantages: jaw dropping picture & colour depth, mind blowing sound, lots of plugs and sockets, reasonably priced Disadvantages: no headphones socket ...televsion I jumped at the Philips 42 PF 5421 despite the £720 pricetag as the first time I clapped eyes on it the price was an eye watering £1500. Oh how prices have fallen, I'm glad I waited. The Philips 42 PF 5421 has a 42" HD ready widescreen plasma display and comes as a complete unit, so far as it doesn't have a stand as such, but sits on a support strut. This is good for me as I have a DVD cabinet that the television slots onto very nicely ... ...Mt mate has just bought a 72" widescreen and in comparison to the Philips 42 PF 5421 it is the poor relative. Size might be important to some, but now I have the quality I'll be sticking with it. An excellent performer Advantages: Pixel Plus 2, picture & sound quality Disadvantages: Initial set up, large remote control Let me first say that I'm not a home cinema / entertainment expert, I'm not going to fill this review with technical specs and data. I bought this screen based on three factors: press reviews, looks and price so what I will be saying is based on my ownership experience. I can't compare it with others like the magazines can but I can tell you what it's like to use and its plus & minus points. Immediately contradicting myself, there are some specs ... ...speaker Ambilight Progressive Scan Pixel Plus 2 Scarts: 3 (2 x RGB) DVI in HD Ready I've picked out these specs (there are many others) as I think they are the ones that are relevant for the average domestic user. Size: With a 42 inch screen this is a big TV, but being a plasma is only a couple of inches deep. philips plasma 42" tv Advantages: make better use of space in your living room!
