Samsung PS50B451 Advantages: Brillaint TV Disadvantages: Hard to get used to ...get a deal on the Samsung PS50b451 instead of it costing around the £700 asking price a friend of ours used her staff discount and along with some vouchers, the TV cost us around £350 which is brilliant for what it is. bit of a bargain actually. Just a really good TV Advantages: Good looking and durable Disadvantages: Gives off noticeable heat Having owned this TV for going on 2 years now I have to say that I have never regretted buying it. I have it mounted on the wall in my living room and it looks fantastic. You have the option of mounting it (but this must be bought separately) or placing it on a table or other surface with the included stand. Both were options for me but it is far more impressive when mounted. Installation and setting up the TV was simple. The instructions were clear. ... ...us to mount it to the wall. It has a built in freeview box which automatically scans for the channels during installation and the TV guide mode is clearer and more detailed than most other freeview guides I have experienced. LG42PQ3000 Advantages: great for sports type programming Disadvantages: not to my liking for feature films. This TV is the top recommendation from Consumer Reviews (for its value and quality). I agree and I also used the recommended settings found online at tweaktv.com. I use it with Vista Media Center and it works very nicely. I use the screen zoom feature found in VMC to accommodate the various aspect ratios found in broadcast and movie sources and leave the TV set to 16:9. Make sure to adjust the resolution and any overscan settings (e.g. using the ... ...of the size and resolution (Nvidia does a great job of providing the proper software for this). The only big issue I have come across is the excessive interference with the VMC IR receiver. This TV will flood the room with IR noise when certain settings are being used (I am pretty sure its the energy saver settings). This IR noise makes the VMC remote virtually useless.
