Review of Heatseeker (PS2)

My own experience of Silpheed.

Advantages: A bit like Axelay/Super Aleste from the Snes days
Disadvantages: Its ten years later and should look better.

I happened across it in the bargain bucket in Woolworths and said a tenner for a PS2 game cant be bad, but I was wrong! I took it home and put the disc in and was greeted with visuals that would not have looked out of place on a Playstation 1 rather than a PS2. The gameplay was okay for a couple of shots but the lack of a real continue or save feature hampers you and after a couple of shots you feel like flinging it out the window rather than going ...
...The bizarre concept I couldnt get over is the ability to save all your settings to the memory card yet you cant save your game progress to the memory card. The visuals within the game are poor but even more so is the collision detection during cut scenes where the game just looks like it is an initial beta copy rather than a fully fledged game. ...

Advantages: Fast, Fun, Exciting Plane Action!
Disadvantages: Not much added from earlier games, No online play

Ace Combat - The Belkan War pretty much uses all the same features as its predecessors, however don't be disappointed! After a number of star-wars games hitting the shelf over the past few years..i have to say i washed my hands of the franchise, it seemed as though Lucasarts (the creaters) where focusing too much on the quantity rather than qualilty, and i hated the fact that the love the Star-wars games would be erased so easily due to the greed of such marketing companies...what happened to the fun, i mean why else are we spending £30+ on games just be ripped off ...
...thought i'd give this starfighter game a go, I didn’t go into the game with high expectations, i just hoped for some fun space shooter, with reasonable graphics...What i got however was a highly enjoyable and addictive gameplay with amazing graphics, i nearly had a heart-attack!. The story: Plot deals with a group of characters who band together to become the most unlikely of heroes..ok not the most original story for a game, but hey you dont go ...

Review of Star Wars: Starfighter (PS2)

So good it's like the real thing!

Advantages: Extremly acurate aircraft and weapon systems. Producers have certainly done their home work
Disadvantages: Terrain is pretty vague at times and the two player is rather dull

...silent quest to find the ace pilot (you) that can shoot him down. The storyline is rather pathetic but you do end up actually watching and enjoying his story. The two player is basically dreadful. Boring maps and no real skill involved, it just revolved around flying straight at the opponent and blasting off two missiles and finishing them off with cannons. The only real upside is the choice of aircraft and even then it is fought in 1st person so ...
