Reviews of PlayStation 3 Games »

Totally unique, hours of fun, almost limitless play online.

Advantages: Limitless, Arcade type fun, Great graphics and sound, Exellent online.
Disadvantages: Can get tricky towards the end

...a part of LittleBigPlanet LittleBigPlanet is so much more than just your average platformer. It is one of the most imaginative and magical games so far to be released on ps3, not to mention the physics engine is like nothing seen before. Every little part of your sackboy (or girl) s life can be controlled and customised, for example if you hold R2 the analogue sticks become controls for your sack persons arms, and with a sixaxis controller you can ...
...can be customised with literally millions of different combinations such as material, clothing, accessories, eyes, nose, mouth, tail etc... You’re probably thinking that with all this customisation there isn’t much room left for the game play right? Wrong! In fact it’s quite the opposite with a cute little storyline as you play through, enough levels to keep you satisfied for weeks, immense graphics and sound that involve you in the game (it makes ...

Can destruction be fun? Can it what!

Advantages: An absolute ball to play, especially after a stressful day!
Disadvantages: Not multiplayer, could have been longer

I knew nothing about this game except that it was a platform game - very different to the first person shooters (FPS) I normally play. It takes you no time at all to get to grips with the controls, who's who in the story and what you are supposed to do. The colours are big, bold and vibrant (especially on a HD TV). There are a huge array of weapons to choose from with the bonus that they automatically upgrade through use. I defy anyone to not play ...
...not only through the actual fun of being able to destroy your enemies (as well as a few other choice items in your environment), but the humour of the game will suit kids as much as it does adults. While not massively challenging, you'll whizz through this quite quickly and be left wanting more when the game does finally end. Not a problem if you have a broadband connection as you can purchase some downloadable content to find out what happens after ...

Star in your own Indiana Adventures

Advantages: Great value for money, fun for all the family, great gameplay, humorous
Disadvantages: none that I can think of.

...a great tongue in cheek lego replication of the three classic Indiana Jones original adventures, brought to us by Lucas Arts, the manufacturers of the ingenious Lego star wars. Can be played in 1 player mode or 2 player mode and is fun for all the family enjoying humurous lego moments throughout. Each chapter of the story has 6 levels where Indy embarks on an adventure along with the help of his friends (a total of 60) bringing unique abilities ...
...level you can break up lego and release coins and hearts to power up your character, and also reveal useful objects such as spades or spanners or lego that can be built into something to aid you in your quest. Collect treasure chests to build artefacts and mailboxes to unlock additional features. Completing each level unlocks freeplay which allows you to go back into the level as any character you like to retrieve additional treasure only accessible ...

Prince of Persia - Successfully making the leap to PS3

Advantages: Outstanding graphics. Free-roaming levels. Pick up and play. Fun.
Disadvantages: No risk factor in leaping. Combat can be frustrating. Slightly repetitive with orb collecting.

...master. The new, light hearted Prince isn't alone either. He has a new ally (female, sticking with the tradition of the original trilogy), who guides and follows you through the new free-roaming kingdom. Split into 4 sections, each controlled by a different nemesis to the Prince and Ellika, the idea of the new game is far less linear than its predecessors. Although each zone has a basic level structure to follow, you are free at anytime to take ...
...progresses. Each one allows the prince to move through the level in a different way...whether it's by catapulting him from one side of the level to the other, flying the Prince on a designated flight route, or by allowing him to run vertically up walls (whilst you dodge objects in the Princes path). These are a fun new feature that, although can be frustrating, are also a great addition. The combat system is slightly similar to the previous games, ...

Holy Bat-Playstation!

Advantages: You get to act out all your favourite Batman characters in Lego!
Disadvantages: Perhaps just a bit too cute and lacking in depth for hardcore gamers.

...in the recent series of Lego games from Traveller's Tales, after Star Wars and Indiana Jones. The concept is fairly simple: Take a hit film series, recreate some of the great action scenes as a computer game and dress it all up in Lego. Although presumably aimed at younger gamers, they've proved a hit with adults too due to some great gameplay and the irreverent humour of the concept. Graphically, the game is pretty much what you'd expect; it's as ...
...of Lego and you're in it. Each of the characters is rendered as a Lego man (or woman) and you'll recognize the likes of Batman, Robin, The Joker, Penguin and Catwoman instantly. The neatest touches though are seeing objects (including the characters sometimes) getting broken apart into their constituent bits of Lego, as well as them assembling assorted objects out of their component parts too. Given the gothic atmosphere, things can get a little ...
