My sister lives in Great Yarmouth; she lives about a quarter of a mile from the beach.
In summer she spends a lot of the time on the beach (weather permitting), with her two children.
I wanted to buy a present that both children would get some use from, after pouring through the Argos catalogue; I spotted the new pop up tents. I didn't think much of them, until I spotted a tent called The Pop Up Sunsafe Tent, straight away I knew this would make an ideal present for the children.
The Sunsafe Tent has exactly the same features as the ordinary Pop Up Tent. It pops up in seconds; it's extremely compact and easy to store. The Tent is also shower proof, but not waterproof. It can be used indoors and outdoors.
The Sunsafe costs £2 more than the ordinary tent, but you get the added benefit of an UV resistant tent, it has a special nylon, which helps to reflect sunlight and block UV rays. It also has a special ventilation system which helps to prevent the tent getting to hot. Last be not least it features a wide door opening, which rolls out to form an additional groundsheet area.
My sister and the children loved this tent, and they did use it throughout the summer, the children loved playing in it, and my sister was secure in knowing that the children were protected from the sun, while they were in the tent.
It's winter now, but the tent hasn't been thrown in the cupboard, the kids still use it indoors.
This tent it excellent value for money, with the added benefit of UV protection.
Advantages: Very easy to build Disadvantages: too light for windy days and it hurts your knees
...was a Tweenies POP OUT PLAY TENT.
We got our trusty Argos catalogue catalogue out and there it was, a bit pricey we thought at about £35, but It would be such a lovely surprise, and we bought it.
Once the kids were in bed up it went and me and the wife found ourselves sat in it!!!! ;0)
It had plenty of room, two windows and a door that can be held up with the aid of velcro.
It was extremley easy to construct with just 5 plastic poles to insert ... ...are half plastic and half nylon mesh, I suppose thats for ventillation purposes, and each window has the always happy smiling Tweenies looking out painted on them.
It stands about 4 ft tall and about the same width, which is just about the right size for other accessories to be placed inside ( we put her toys in there sometimes to make the place look tidy).
Its extremley bright to look at and now that the weather is improving we are looking forward ...

Advantages: A base for exploring the unknown | Easy to put up and down Disadvantages: A little too light for some weather condition
...long trek. They've got two play tents which fit nicely into carry bags, which are ideal for storage and light enough to carry through the jungle that we normally call our front room.
After a day exploring and hunting for the lost city under the settee, it was time for their guide (mummy) to help them set up camp for the night (well lunch really). Setting up camp was extremely easy, involving simply unfolding the tents which then popped into the ... ...have occasionally tipped over, when play has got a little over-boisterous, and unlike “real” tents they can't be secured with guy ropes, so if you've left them out and the wind has got strong, you may find your next door neighbour has suddenly acquired tents that look just like yours.
The actual tents on their own do not take up much space, I can get two up in my 16 ft front room with no difficulty, but when you add the tunnel they really do need ...

Advantages: Suitable for a wide range of children, easy to transport Disadvantages: Can be awkward to fold down, Kids don't want them put away
...will he/she really want to play in a Tweenies tent?
I love these items as they have plenty of play value, and encourage both role play and exercise, but don’t take much room to store. They can be carried easily as all the bags have a carry strap, and will fit easily into a suitcase, or car boot.
As well as being available from Argos and Index, they are also available from Woolworths (the bigger stores), ELC, and most good toyshops. ...

Advantages: Keeps the sun out and can be used as a house Disadvantages: Very confusing to put up and down
...you could leave them to play or sleep in there without any worries and a young baby would be able to join you in the garden without being too hot. I would not reccommend you use this on windy days, but I have just spoken to my friend who I bought one for, and they took theirs to Cyprus and it is handy on the beach as it is easy to dismantle but she says they are getting there with being able to put it back up! So if you were doing a beach or villa ... ...of these for the hours that the sun is hot as it does fold quite small! Why not pop along to your local Early Learning Centre and see if they have any for you to look at and see what you think! ...

Chad Valley Pop Up Play Tent...........
Chad Valley is the Woolworth range of toys and toy related products. I purchased this tent a few months back now for Jack and even though the age range was 2 years and over he has lots of fun playing in it and even though he was only just over a year when I bought it we have had no problems with using it at this age.
It was on special offer in Woolworth's for £5 which I think was around half the original ... ...already had hours of fun play time using it and he often loves to take all of his teddy bears inside and he chats away to them (in a baby language!) and he gets so excited when I pop the tent out. The only thing I will say is that it is prone to falling over quite a bit because of cause it is not stuck down to anything. There are two strips of Velcro down a couple of the sides which do stick slightly to the carpet but this is really not enough to ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Play Tents"
With summer nearly here I?m sure like many other parents you?re preparing yourselves for various out door activities your going to be expected to provide for the little ones. As a mother of a one year old daughter I invested in the Play hut Dora the Explorer: Dora's Hideaway Pop-Up PlayTent. This seemed ideal as I figured she could use it indoor and outdoor depending on the weather.
The age range does suggest three and up but I personally don?t see the problem as long as they are obviously supervised at all times. This item isn?t a tent as such as it doesn?t have a floor and can result in it falling over as it doesn?t have any support in the bottom. There is no way of attaching it to the floor so it is best not used in windy conditions as it blows right over. On a plus note it is lightweight so if it does fall over ...
We have this play pen except it isnt used as a play pen any more
I brought this for £100 about 4 years ago
It comes in pieces which you slot together and has a soft washable mat in the bottom, although my mat was red not gray as it is in the picture above.
They also sold tent canopys to go on the top of this to turn it into a playtent for £30 which was great fun.
This play pen has a multitude of uses, firstly it can be used as a play pen in the hexagon shape with the mat inside and can be used as a circus tent in this shape too or you can arrange each of the 6 sides to make a different shape.
you can use all or parts of this play pen as a door gate or a fire guard and as the children get older you can open it out in a line and attach it to the wall to give them a whole corner of a room to play in.
Mine has had many ...
Advantages: Safe, comfortable, roomy, easily accessible, well designed. Disadvantages: Choose colour wisely - black looks like a prison! Quite a lot larger than traditional playpens.
looked a bit like a miniature prison! It is well made in a kind of powder coated finish so it is not as cold as a metal frame.
We found it difficult to assemble at first but subsequently realised it is quite easy once you know how - don't forget to look at the little position markers - they help you assemble it in the correct shape.
We were also bought the optional playtent which fits over the top of the playpen to create a wendy house. I think this is a wonderful way to elongate the life span of the playpen.
Finally - nearly forgot to mention - door opens to access baby so no more bending up/down to lift baby out. Ideal if you have a bad back or a heavy baby!
Babydan Babyden can also be used in other configurations such as fire gate, stairgare, room divider etc... Additional parts can be purchased although extra fixings are ...
