When I was a little person, back in the seventies, Adventcalendars were simple. They were made of cardboard, with a little, fairly predictable picture behind each window. How things change.
This year my parents decided to spoil their Grandchildren, nothing new there, and have bought them both very posh Adventcalendars. Shortie, now aged 5, has a small collection of Playmobil which he adores, so my parents have given him a PlaymobilAdventcalendar.
°**° AdventCalendars, a brief background °**°
"Advent" comes from the Latin word adventus, which means "coming." Advent is the period of time before Christmas. The calendars are very exciting. They are very thick (around 2 - 2.5 inches), and they are slightly bigger than a normal sized chocolate adventcalendar. The front ...
When I was little we were the envy of our friends as every year, without fail, Dad's childhood German penfriend would send us Chocolate AdventCalendars. At the time the idea hadn't reached the UK, they may be commonplace now but this AdventCalendar goes to show that where preparing for the Festive Season is concerned, a German company like Playmobil still has the edge.
Now excuse the early mention of Christmas, but in my defence if you do want to buy one of these you will need to order early, in my experience if they make it into the shops they are not around for long. In my local "The Entertainer" shop they are snapped up very quickly and long before Christmas, and even online they do sell out suprisingly early or tend to be more highly priced on ebay as the festive season approaches.
Like all the other Playmobiladvent ...
