Brilliant Play
Advantages: Very funny, imaginative text Disadvantages: too short if anything!
...this is where all of the action of the text takes place. The town was once prosperous and bright; but many years have past since then and the economy has decayed to almost nothing, the whole town is facing bankruptcy. Their one ray of hope comes in the form of a visit from a former resident of the city who has since leaving attained high status and vast wealth, as well as a few prosthetic limbs! Her name is Claire Zachanassian and the play opens ... ...youth, she fell pregnant to the local shopkeeper named Alfred Ill, and that he denied paternity in court and won, by bribing two men to lie when testifying. Her announcement brings with it an offer to the townspeople; she offers half a billion to be shared out amongst the town, but only if Alfred Ill is killed. The ludicrous claim from the wealthy figure is rejected by the town at first, but as the play progresses we see more people buying provisions ...

A diamond in the rough
Advantages: all the works of Oscar Wilde are included (prose, critisicm, drama, poetry), affordable edition Disadvantages: the edition is liable to tear and wear, it is not aesthetically appealing
...'The portrait of Dorian Grey' the autobiographical 'De profundis' and his stories and fairytales) plays (such as 'The Importance of Being Earnest' and 'The Ideal husband') his critical works ('The Decay of Lying' etc) and his poems. I cannot find a single line of Wilde that is boring, poorly written. If you want to read an elegantly written yet profound and touching book you can do no better. I was initially going to award this with 5 stars but it ... ...the works of a celebrated aesthete sold for £4.99. Wilde adored beauty and elegance and this edition is not in keeping with his artistic credo. It is obviously cheap, vulnerable to tear and wear and impractical to carry around -it is not so very heavy as the paper is thin but I find that carrying it around and reading it in trains results to tears (mostly of the pages).
However contrary to my idol I believe that it is better to read a masterpiece ...

Death of a Salesman - The tragedy of a broken man.
Advantages: Literature at its finest, the rare tale of an anti-hero who just gives in Disadvantages: Not for everyone
...to publish it again.
Death of a Salesman is a play, written by the late, highly respected Arthur Miller. Miller was not a prolific playwright, and Death of a Salesman is one of his few but most famous works.
The genre of the play is essentially a tragedy although not in the typical sense. Miller wanted to challenge the typical literary device of tragedy which has always been a person of high stature falling out of power because of a fatal flaw. ... ...-Symbolism and Motifs- Death of a Salesman is littered with symbols and motifs that constantly remind Willy of his past and often trigger flashbacks. For example, Linda is always darning stockings, and these remind Willy of his infidelity because he gave stockings to the woman he had an affair with. Diamonds represent wealth and therefore Willy's failure to become successful like his brother. Other symbols and motifs to look out for when reading/watching ...

Take a Letter Miss Jones...the news is good.
Advantages: A powerful piece of live theatre Disadvantages: None
With interest in Blood Brothers revived through the canny decision to cast Mel C in the role of Mrs Johnstone, I thought I'd pen some thoughts.
I've seen the West End production an embarassing number of times now (well into the double digits!) and almost always, have had every emotional button pushed. More of a play with songs, than a musical, the show lacks the gloss of Wicked or the gasp inducing sets of Phantom. But what it does have is a very ... ...report back when I do.
It's been around donkeys years and sometimes we think it's abit of a coach party production or a tourist trap. It's not. Blood Brothers remains a relevant piece of theatre and deserves the widest audience possible. I know I'll be returning. ...

Much Ado About Nothing
Advantages: its studied at GSCE english, so its important to read. Disadvantages: It can be hard to read because the language is shakepearian.
Shakespeare’s romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing could perhaps be interpreted as a comedy of errors; all the relationships have problems, and many mistakes are made along the way. Shakespeare uses characters with small parts to give the play a more interesting story line. For instance the minor character of Don John creates issues between Claudio and Hero, one of the main relationships in the play. But the relationship of Benedick and Beatrice ... ...language is very important in Much Ado About Nothing. I think that Shakespeare’s ingenious title is actually a play on words itself because the difficulty Benedick and Beatrice have in getting together is “much ado about nothing” because their problem isn’t that they don’t love each other, it’s that they both hold their dignity too high to be able to let one and other know how they truly feel. After their conversation when Benedick is masked, he ...
