Plenty Kitchen Towels (formerly known as Bounty) are a paper towel product that is manufactured by the Swedish company SCA.

At my supermarket Plenty Kitchen Towels can be purchased in packs of 2 or 6 rolls, with each roll containing roughly 50 sheets. You can also buy larger rolls (branded as ‘Fat Rolls’) that contain around 75 sheets each. I usually buy products such as this in bulk as it works out cheaper; with 6 rolls usually costing me around £4.80. You have the additional option of buying plain towels or towels with a pattern printed on them if you prefer.

Advertisements for this product make strong claims regarding its effectiveness at mopping up spills on various surfaces. From my own experience I have found that the product works surprisingly well, with one sheet usually sufficing for any spillages that I encounter around the home. The towels are much more absorbent than other similar products that I have tried out.

One of the great things about this product is its sheer versatility. You can put it to any number of uses around the home. The product is great for using in conjunction with an antibacterial spray such as Dettol to wipe down surfaces and prevent the spread of bacteria. I have also found it to be good for combating emergency red wine spillages on carpets. Combined with a few sprays of any window cleaner or a dash of vinegar it is great for wiping down glass and mirrors without leaving any form of residue.

One of the disadvantages of using disposable products such as this is that they are not particularly environmentally friendly – they create more waste as opposed to something like a kitchen sponge, that can be used over and over again. However, using a disposable product is more hygienic, and most kitchen towel products are biodegradable, which limits the environmental impact that they have compared with plastic-based products.

As with many branded products, they cost a little bit more than supermarket own brands. However in this case I believe that the additional cost is justified, as from my own experiences I have found that they perform significantly better than other similar products on the market.
