Advantages Advantages Makes a wonderfully, long, refreshing summer drink

Disadvantages Disadvantages Beware of the alcohol content

*****UPDATE***** I have been drinking Fruit Cup by Plymouth gin distilleries, for a few years now BUT they are not going to continue with this as sales have dropped. I AM MORTIFIED!! It tastes so much better than Pimms, but being a smaller distillery, can't fight the big boys!! Also, in the interested of keeping this distillery afloat during the credit crunch, please try their gin as it is well worth it!! Original review: A few month's back, a friend from Devon suggested that I try a variation of my usual Pimm's and to buy some Plymouth Gin instead. I looked at it in the supermarket (not ... more

Advantages Advantages Smooth and very tasty, heaven in a glass.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It is a bit expensive but worth every penny.

“Ahaar, Jim lad, get thee down to Ye Old Inn on Southside Street and get thee a swallee, here’s a new whole penny, drink all the gin you can because in the morn we set sail for the Tropics” I hold in my hand an almost empty bottle, a bottle of antiquarian design. I look at the cork stopper in my other hand and place it home. Next a splash of tonic is added to the hearty measure of spirit and ice that lies in my heavy crystal glass. With the deftness of a surgeon I slice two pieces of lime. One is squeezed into the glass’s contents whilst the other is thrown in with gay abandon. Now the ... more

Advantages Advantages Premium Product. Well Balanced. Lovely Flavour

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very Few unless you dont like gin

Plymouth gin has been distilled for over 200 years in the oldest gin distillery in the West Country. Since it was the preferred drink of the Royal Navy, not surprisingly this fine gin travelled the world. Gin connoisseurs love this gin from the fair city of Plymouth for its delightfully junipery flavour, its balance and the full flavoured punch it delivers. This premium gin is a superb ingredient for sophisticated lovers of Martini and makes a great Gin and Tonic. Both Ian Fleming and Sir Winston Churchill were reputedly lovers of Plymouth gin and it was also greatly appreciated by Presidnt ... more

Advantages Advantages sharp, interesting, full flavour

    Disadvantages Disadvantages makes me giddy......

After trying rather a lot of different gins, falling over on numerous occaisions I found upon Plymouth gin. The bottle may not be quite as stylish as other brands but the interesting flavour certainly makes up for this. As opposed to other brands, this gin has a crisp clean taste which is a pleasant change. The interesting monk on the inside label in an interesting idea, it does speed me to drink the bottle rather to quickly though in order for the monk to dry his toes. This gin is also improved no end by drinking with a large helping of ice, a dash of tonic and a nice wedge of lime. This ... more

Advantages Advantages A crisp and very well balanced gin

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bottle could look better

Plymouth gin is my favourite gin, it is what I use when mix cocktails at my work and it is what I drink at home. Plymouth gin has a rich history, having been distilled in the Blackfriers distillery on Plymouth's waterfront since the 17th century. It is a very well balanced gin, made with soft water and coming in at a non-lethal 41% ABV it is a smooth yet crisp spirit. Flavoured with citrus extracts, juniper, coriander seeds as well as a variety of other fruit and herb extracts, Plymouth has a distinctive, full-bodied flavour with a fresh citrus and juniper flavour combined with a smooth, well ... more
