This is for Jane47, it's her fault, all her fault that I am posting this... : ) But she never makes me feel sad, her effect leans much more towards making me experience hysterical fits of laughter as it happens! Bless you Jane!
The poem was originally written in spanish, so I am including the spanish version below the english one.Sadness
There is a sort of sadness that springs like saturated water, And turns into a fountain, unwillingly; It is accompanied by a delicate fairy Who wishes to speak, unsuccessfully;
It is a dumb sadness, which has no hearing, No mouth, no eyes, no sound and no faith; A hard sadness, without any meaning, That makes bubbles of hunger and thirst;
It is a sadness without complaints or tears, Which hatches and dies without a known reason; It attacks every desire, every breath, every breeze; A sadness with a longing for a missing season;
It thinks itself your indispensable and loyal friend, But it is full of handless and faceless beings in bubbles, Who move like embryos ignorant both of good and of bad, And fill your chest with heavy, insane and unhealthy hollows.
Hay tristezas que brotan como agua saturada, Y se transforman en fuente sin querer; Vienen acompañadas de una delicada hada, Que quiere hablar y no lo puede hacer;
Son tristezas mudas y sin oído, Sin boca, sin ojos, sin ruido y sin fe, Tristezas duras y sin sentido, Que hacen burbujas de hambre y de sed;
Son tristezas sin queja y sin llanto, Que nacen y mueren sin saber por qué, Que atascan las ganas, la brisa y el aliento; Tristezas de un anhelo por un no sé qué;
Ellas se creen amigas imprescindibles y leales, Pero son seres en burbujas sin caras y sin manos Que se mueven como embriones ignorantes del bien y del mal, Y dejan en el pecho huecos tremendos, pesados, insanos, y malsanos.
