Ahh the classic remake =) of pokemon Red and Blue. They were the first original hand held pokemon games and I enjoyed playing them very much to an extent where I would fall asleep in the classroom after staying up all night and get in trouble lol Pokemon was the 'in' thing back in the day.

Pokemon Fire Red is a re-make of pokemon Red, with many imporvements including updated graphics, pokemon from the Johto and Hoenn regions to capture, The wireless communicator (Mine came in the box as it was a first release. It should be noted that most Pokemon Fire Red releases today don't include the wireless communicator). Other features include improved sound, longer gameplay ( Once youve beaten the Elite 4 you can travel to the Sevii Islands) and a more detailed story line that will have you hooked from the moment you start playing.

I paid Ł29.99 at Argos for this game, Way back in 2005 but you can possibly get it cheaper today on websites such as Ebay or Amazon. Some high street retailers are still selling aswell such as Woolworths, Game, Gamestation and Argos.

The game can also connect to the new 'Pokemon Diamond' and 'Pokemon pearl' through the dual slot feature on the ninendo DS lite. Once youve beaten the pokemon league on either of the new games, 6 pokemon a day can be transfered to the new games via the Pal Park feature. Also, with Fire Red in slot 2 of the nintendo DS, Pokemon such as Elekid can be found roaming around in certain areas of the pokemon diamond or pearl.

I have yet to see a 'threequel' to pokemon fire red and leaf green, But I'm looking out for it soon =) like all the other games had one. Red and Blue had Yellow, Gold and Silver had Crystal, Ruby and Sapphire had Emerald ..and so forth.

Playability and Enjoyment - 9/10 (It could be better and less time consuming)
Addictiveness - 10/10
Originality - 4/10 Its improved on the originals but without a threequel its useless.
Graphics - Brilliant Graphics 8/10
Sound - Sound has improved alot since the originals. The pokemons crys can be heard clearly when they enter battle and the game msuic changes as you go through each area.
Difficulty and Complexity - 10/10 Its not difficuly at all, Although it does require basic reading ability.
Value for money - For such a small cartridge, I'd say no. But because Its a great game, I'll give it a 7/10
Longevity/Expected Longevity - You may get bored after the games complete (I know I am lol) but thier will be other pokemon games to play. As for the cartridge itself, I put it through rigourous tests lol Dont look so shocked. I left it in my trouser pocket which was then put into the washing machine. While the cartridge was pefectly clean, It did have some trouble starting up (Its works now though after drying out! =) yay ). My second test for the cartridge was the heat test. It actually survived the microwave AND oven *

*Please note. I do not recomend you try this test. It is extremely dangerous and I only did it for review purposes.

Overall, I recommend this game for its sheer fun factor! =] and the price
