Pokemon. Pocket Monsters. They begun as a small (big-small) game which set Ash, this young boy, on a journey to find 8 badges. Badges, yes. This also involved capturing 151 Pokemon in a pokeball. This is starting to sound weird, isn’t it? Well, no. It would, it’s just that everyone ... Read review

Advantages: Better than R, B and Y in every way (except graphics) Disadvantages: Same graphics
...This also involved capturing 151 Pokemon in a pokeball. This is starting to sound weird, isn’t it? Well, no. It would, it’s just that everyone knows what it is. So, after the game there was this cartoon. Then came along a load of sell out stuff, then Pokemon yellow, which is more or less another sell out cartridge, then even more sell out stuff (this includes clothing and bad sheets etc.). Then, some N64 games came, which sold well. Then ... ...Pokemon Trading Game. (I’m not going into the Trading Card hell; it’s too vile to write about). So what next? Nintendo had thought of a way to keep this Pokemon thing alive: Pokemon Gold and Silver. The way they have the 2 separate games is just like the way they used Red/Blue: There were some Pokemon missing in Red, some missing in Blue. This was probably a scam to raise the sales of link cables, but it does the job. Gold and Silver ...

Advantages: you'll be playing for hours Disadvantages: its pokemon
...have been extremely popular too. Pokemon red and blue came as somewhat a shock to us as they put some life back into the Gameboy color. After three years of waiting, the sequels have finally arrived. Sequels they are similar they are not. Let’s take a look into the world called pokemon!
Ash is gone and there is a new trainer in town… you. It is your dream and your ambition to collect al the Pokemon and become the master of all trainers. ... ...little bit tougher.
Originally pokemon Red and Blue had 150 pokemon to catch. Well Gold and Silver have added an extra 100 critters for you to catch, sigh. As well as this, there is 2 new type of pokemon being introduced for the first time. Dark, very handy for stopping the annoying Psychic’s and Steel.
You start the game by choosing one of three pokemon; Cyndaquil (Fire), Chikorita (Grass) and Totodile (water). Once you choose, your new ...

Advantages: Massive improvments Disadvantages: Might be already bored of pokemon
Pokemon has essentially become a worldwide phenomenon. Merchandise of all sorts is available for the truly hardcore fans out there, ranging from sandwich makers to socks. Pokemon Red and blue were only the beginning. Pokemon Yellow was just an update to them. Now arriving, as they all invariably come, are the true sequels. Gold and Silver.
Even if you had a GameBoy Colour, you could still only play Red, Blue and Yellow in a somewhat limited selection ... ...Pokemon. They are Steel type Pokemon and Dark type Pokemon, bringing the total types to 17. These two new additions give the game added depth because Dark Pokemon are resistant to the powerful psychics, which were tough to beat. Another addition is the ability to breed Pokemon, which is the only way to get pre-evolutions of certain Pokemon.
The best addition has to be the new backpack. This now sorts your items into pockets so that all the potions ...

Advantages: addictive, fun, plenty of variety with the creatures Disadvantages: repetitive, if you have no patience this is a big NO-NO
...And that was exactly what Pokemon did. Basically, the premise is a simple one. Take a game engine akin to Zelda 4(top down RPG with cutesy graphics) but dispose of the swords and castles, and replace them with 'pokemon' and gyms. Collect these pokemon by fighting and captuing them with pokeballs, train em up(by fighting a defeating other pokemon - unfortunately if you capture these pokemon your pokemon don't get the experience). Once they're up to ... ...the local town and beat him for a badge. If at first you don't succeed try and try again. Then move onto the next town, via a forest, cave or some other obstacle, during which you can capture more beasties, as well as rack up your experience.
The gameplay DOES get repetitive, but the massive amount of different creatures adds variety. There are many different settings, such as a boat, a huge cave, a meadow and so on. All very basic, but infuriatingly ...

Advantages: Gameplay, Music, Control Disadvantages: Story (but who cares)
Pokemon Gold/Silver Finally the version of Pokemon is out but is it all great or just like the other ones before Red/Blue/Yellow. Well I can tell you it is nothing like the ones before (except from the collecting part) Pokemon Gold/Silver follows the old game off and includes many new Pokemon (100 more to be precise) These new ones have great names like Whopper and Lugia. There are many new items along the way and an entire new backpack so it is ... ...tips on how to catch pokemon and talk to your mum), a map and a radio all in one. So Whats Items, Pokeballs and T.M’s are there? There are many new items such as the Red Scale, which you get when you defeat a red Gyarados. There are also items, which you can equip to pokemon like Quick Fist when you are allways the first to make an attack. There are many new Pokeballs as there is a pokball shop who can make pokeballs at of any thing. There ...
