Poker Masters (PS2)

...like a good game of poker then you will love this. The clue is in the name and yes this is a game that is all about poker! I got this when trading in some of my old games and at the time thought it looked pretty good and as I love a good game of poker I thought it would bit good to try rather than my usual action and fighting type games.

I will just give a brief overview of some of the areas of the game.

WSOP events - when you select this you will begin the world series of poker. You can choose from texas hold ' em, omaha, seven card stud and razz.
Continue in-progress wsop event - Load a saved game
Invitational events - winning these will unlock levels for you to play on-line or in quick play
Awards and stats - This is where you can check out all the stuff you have won eg, your WSOP bracelets, your collector chips and see the WSOP all-stars. The collector chips are won for getting a certain hand in games, such as getting four of a kind or a flush etc.

Career options. This is where you can change the year you want to be playing in. Or restart your career if you lose every penny you had. You will then start again with $10.000 in your bank.

Edit player. Here is where you can create your own character. Here are your choices:

Player name - Your name or game name
Stock player - Choose from a pre-made character
Pro-player - When you take out a pro in your game you can then play as that character
Customize player - Choose the look you want eg, Hair, dress style, male or female, glasses, head phones etc etc. You can even select which voice you want to play with

When you start your career and you have edited your player, you then choose what game you want to play.

Texas hold ' em. This is the main game, this is a $10,000 buy in which is your full bank roll. So your playing with a lot of money, but its ok, if you lose you can just restart. Your competing against just over 6000 players, so it can get quite boring after a while because your just playing the same game however it can also be quite addictive as you see the numbers of players starting to dwindle and you realise you are getting closer to winning!! Prizes are given out if you make it into the top 10.

Overall this is quite an addictive game and the way you can edit your player to suit your taste is quite good too. It can get a bit boring after a while but if you can get hold of a copy cheap it's worth spending a few pounds on! As I mentioned I didn't pay anything out for it as I exchanged games and got this with some others but I have checked it out lately on various websites and the cheapest place at the moment is Ebay for just £1.50!
