IS YOUR POND GREEN THEN USE A UV STERILISER
Review of Yamitsu 30 watt by
breezer
Advantages: sturdy, reliable, easy to get new bulbs.
Disadvantages: none.
...So I bought a Yamitsu 30watt UV sterilizer in the summer of 1997, which cost me £79, although slightly underpowered, (as it is recommended to have 10watts per 1000 gallons) it was the most I wanted (or could afford) to shell out, as I was doubtful if it would clear the troublesome green water.
Installation was started the next morning, this entailed the cutting of one of the pipes from the pump, and fitting the uv unit in-line on this cut pipe, ... ...own jubilee clips to complete this. The unit must be sheltered from the worst of the elements, mine is covered by some old pond liner. It has to be plugged into the mains, but it is supplied with a 10mtr cable, so it has a reasonable range to it, I would also recommend that you use a power breaker when plugging this or any other outside appliance into the mains electricity supply. The pump was turned on, and with no leaks apparent, it was now time ...

SUNJET 150 SOLAR PUMP - PUMPED UP & HAPPY !!!
Review of Sunjet 150 Solar Powered Pond Pump by
traveller10
Advantages: No electric cable
Disadvantages: needs direct sunlight
Hi, I thought I would tell you about this pump. I hope you find it useful and would appreciate your feedback.
************WHY************
Ok, well the reason I got this pump was basically because I really fancied having a beautiful focal point in my garden. I have been to other peoples gardens who have a water feature and always thought there is nothing nicer than relaxing in the garden with a cold drink as you listen to the gentle sound of trickling ... ...ideal and not too expensive.
**********COST***********
I bought this on-line and paid £25.99 which I do think is pretty ok. Beware if you are looking to buy this as the price really can vary from shop to shop. I think the dearest I saw was £39.99 (BIG DIFFERENCE)
NOTE - This is only the pump and not the bowl (if you want to have a bird bath), but is all you need for a pond. As for any other costs - there aren't any !!!! Because it is a solar powered ...

A solar powered water fountain for the garden.
Review of Sunjet 150 Solar Powered Pond Pump by
perfectlypolished
Advantages: Cheap and easy to set up.
Disadvantages: You need the sun to shine for it to work.
...water.
I ordered my Sunjet 150 solar powered fountain by Smart Solar from an online garden centre who I had used before and it arrived within 5days. The kit comprises of a solar panel measuring 5 ½” x 5”, the pump with 3m of cable, two extension tubes and a choice of three heads and a mounting kit for the panel.
Putting together is easy – just insert the pump, which is cylindrical and about 4” tall, onto the base which is a flat circular ring with ... ...of your water you will need one or two extension tubes which are each about 3” long and then decide which fountain head you want. The choices are between a simple stream of water, a narrow spray or a wider spray. The height of the water jet will depend on the strength of the sun. Very bright sun will produce a jet of up to 10” and this becomes less as the sun intensity decreases. Now place the pump in position under water.
It is important to remember ...

"Two Squirrels in a Fountain"
Review of Bermuda Water Feature, "Two's Company". by
Youngatheard60
Advantages: The sound of trickling water on a hot sunny day
Disadvantages: Must make sure that the water doesn't run dry
...(picture below). Bermuda Water Features are exclusively distributed by Aquatic Options in Halesowen. As well as Two's Company (BER142) there is one depicting two Otters on a Rock, called Watering Hole (BER141), which is equally as charming.
My Out-takes
=
I made two silly mistakes whilst setting up this water feature, giving my husband the opportunity to say "told you so" and me to quickly empty it out and put it in the garden.
Just ... ...tell you what I did as a warning:-
After setting it up I decided to go back into the house to sit and listen to my handywork. After a "nice cup of tea" I went back out into the conservatory to see how it was doing and to my horror there was water everywhere and the pump was making a terrible grating noise. I quickly turned it off and investigated. Of course I immediately blamed the product, as you do, and looked all round it for a leak. I soon discovered ...

THE HEART OF A GOOD POND
Review of Hozelock 2000 by
tractor-boy
Advantages: Solid build quality, good price, powerful and constant water flow
Disadvantages: No hose supplied if pump is to be used to feed a filter box or waterfall
...or waterfall. Step forward the Hozelock Cyprio range of pond pumps - a compact and powerful pump that can feed a waterfall, fountain or filter as choice dictates - or indeed all three at the same time!
● Calculating the size of pump required relative to pond size ●
Of course for the pump to work effectively it has to be capable of moving the required amount of water at the correct rate, ideally the pump should be circulating at least ... ...comparison work I purchased a Hozelock Cyprio Cascade 2000 for £59 from www.thefactoryshops.co.uk. ● What's in the box? ●
Well most importantly you get the pump itself, made from toughened plastic it has a foam free plastic inlet cage to ensure less cleaning is required to keep the pump working properly. Depending on whether you got the standard pump or the LV model (low voltage) there will be a power pack to lower the electric being ...
