Ponds promises that the cream is hypoallergenic alright to be used on sensitve skin. It apparently won`t clog pores and it dermatoloically tested. They describe the cream as extra rich and say that it delivers essential moisture to nourish the skin. It apparently soothes and softens while setting the stage for perfect make up application. It is also apparently suitable for deep, overnight hydration.

Why did I Buy? * * * * * * * * * * *
I must admit that the price was a large consideration when selecting this product, at £3.71 for 75ml, I thought it was pretty reasonable. Secondly I wanted something that was going to be effective. Whilst my skin is not overly dry, I do get dry skin from time to time, especially in Winter. It is important to have a good cream that you feel the benefits from immediately, not one that you feel that you need to keep reapplying. From the description, I thought that this would fit the bill.

The cream is in a little glas jar (75ml) with a white screw on top. When opened there is a good sized hole at the top to enable you to use the cream easily and get out every last drop (not that I am anywhere near there yet). I must admit, the cream is certainly thick and rich. They are not wrong there. The cream is very slightly beige or cream in appearance. On opening there is a distinct cosmetic fragrance. I cannot describe this acurately, just that it smells very much of cosmetics, not something that I usually go for. I did wonder if it would be suitable for daytime use, though I thought that I would give it a chance. It did say on the box that it is suitable for day or night time use.
Using. * * * * * *
I don`t stick ot one cream, I tend to use different ones according to my requirements. That is, if my skin is dry, I will use one for dry skin instead of my usual daily on so I am not using this one every day, though I have used it a fair bit at night.
The cream is thick but light, it is absored readily by the skin. You just dip your finger in and get a little bit. A little bit goes a long way. I find that I just run my finger lightly over my skin and it doesn`t take much time to put on. I think that because the cream is so thick and is absorbed easily, it really does go a long way. Not only would this make the cream economical as it will last longer, it is also quicker to put on than others creams that don`t seem to go very far at all.
Does it Work? * * * * * * * * * * *
The cream delivers its promise of hydrating dry skin. My skin feels soft as it also promises and the hydration remains in the skin. As a night cream it is fabulous. I love it as a night cream as my skin feels really good after using it. It feels rich. I have used the cream during the day, but only when my skin has felt a bit dry. I consider it too rich to use every day but during the day if your skin needs an important moisture boost, it works.
My skin is sometimes sensitive but not overly so, I have had no problems with Ponds Extra Dry Skin Cream. Being so thick and rich, I did wonder if it may cause spots, I haven`t had any of these, or any clogged pores.
Disadvantages. * * * * * * * * * * * *
There aren`t many but I always look for negatives as well as positives when reviewing a product.
Now I haven`t tried this one so I can`t say that it is a definite disadvantage. It does apparently provide a perfect make up base. I consider the cream to be a bit too thick, I would not trust it. I always use a thinner cream when wearing make up so that there is less interference with the make up.
The cream does not have a sun protection factor (SPF). This does not really matter too much to me as I use it mainly as a night cream so it would be a bit of a waste. In hot weather I do use an additional sun cream but for every day it is really useful to have an SPF in the moisturiser as I don`t bother then. Usually I only buy a moisturiser with an SPF but I intended to only use this at night or intermittently.
Finally the fragrance is not really to my liking. I don`t usually pick a fragranced moisturiser. I like to sometimes put moisturiser on my hands afterwards and I don`t really like the smell of this one.
Will I buy this again? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I certainly will, the pros far outweigh the cons and it is cheap and effective for my needs. I don`t think I will be buying it for a long time though as it will last me ages I am sure. Oh, I forgot to say though, once opened it needs to be used within 9 months. I don`t think so, I have used many a cream outside of the specified time and it still seems to work. I am not eating it, it can`t do any harm, can it?

Advantages: Softens skin, leaves it healthier and glowing Disadvantages: None
It seems as I get older, my skin goes through phases where it doesn't know what it wants to be. In Summer, it becomes almost greasy, and in Winter loses moisture so quickly that it becomes almost a paper like transparent. The laughter lines (I hate the term "crow's feet") seem to be more pronounced, and even my husband, only 37, finds his skindries out in the elements.
I've begun to add another product to my skin care regimen - Pond's DrySkinCream. This is an extra rich skincream, so you tend to use very little, and is made by Chesebrough-Pond's - a name we all recognise that has been around all my life.
If I'm using this as a daytime moisturiser, after cleansing my face with a Ponds Cleansing and Make Up Remover Towelette, I apply a small amount and massage it into my face and neck, leaving it to soak in . Once it is well ...

Advantages: It was non greasy, perfect for combo-skin...at first... I almost thought it was perfect Disadvantages: After a while, it dries up your skin even peeling
This was really going into consideration into the " perfect moisturozer" especailly for me. I mean, come on I have severe combo skin ( really oily yet really dry think Pondsskincreamdry) and finding something to satisfy both those needs is tough. I came across the product at the store, I tried it, and I liked it at first. It gave me moisture without the greasy texture, I cannot honestly imply on the sunscreen because I use seperate sunscreen for everything. All goes well, a week later my skin is peeling and dry, even on the oily side. At first, I thought " Hey, maybe it's my sunscreen.."...a day later without it on Nope. Well to make the story short, I finally realized it was indeed my so-called "perfect moisturizer". Sadly enough, it was. I have never used it again. ...
Advantages: Cheap, moisturising, gentle, Disadvantages: The general product image, which makes this product seem a bit boring.
BEFORE I USED PONDSPonds Cold Cream Cleanser is just like Vaseline- timeless, cheap and very effective. You would forgive me for not considering using Ponds earlier on in my life- in my head (and probably in many other people's heads as well), I saw Ponds as an old-fashioned product which probably wouldn't work (because it's so cheap) and assumed it was favoured by older people who are stuck in the same skincare routine as they were 20 years ago. How wrong I was. It's a brilliant cleanser.
I have sensitive skin which occasionally produces the odd spot here and there, but my main problem before I started using Ponds was dry patches on my face. I assume that those dry patches were a result of me using harsh products on my face to prevent me from getting spots. I didn't actually need to use those products because a) I wasn ...
Formulations for all skin types (cream, gel and lotion), smoother skin that feels toned after a couple of applications, matching serum top-up for extra dry skin, one jar lasts for ages and smells fresh, clean and gorgeous.
Prohibitively expensive for a straight-up, non anti-ageing facial moisturiser. Lightly perfumed and non-hypoallergenic - unsuitable for sensitive skin. (*)
