Advantages: Great on gas, good pickup, reliable Disadvantages: Faulty engine parts, damn GM!

Now this car is roomy, reliable, good on gas, cheap to insure and is fairly easy to maintain. It has a good deal of beef inside it especially if you own an SE model like I do.

However as a GM product it has it's dark side, that being the crappy workmanship. This car has manifold gasket problems due to DEXcool antifreeze put in at the assembly line. Also there's tendancy to have the rotors warp, and also prone to alternator problems though I am only suffering the first two.

The engine has a great deal of get up and go and the car has great handling on everything, I even drove it through all three of the horrible ice and snow storms that hit southern ontario this winter.

The biggest problem with the gasket problem is one the parts are expensive as GM has made it so you need to buy special bolts that are one use only bolts, and 2 the entire front end must be taken apart thus even buying the parts myself I am looking at a charge of 1200 dollars for the repairs...I love the car but I now must decide repair it for 1200 or buy another for 2000....I would hope you save yourself from making this choice.
Advantages: Dependable, Roomy, Sporty, Great All Around Vehicle Disadvantages: Bad Alternators and Sometimes Manifold Gaskets
I own a 98 grand am with 100,000 miles on it, it is dependable with very few problems. Along with the car comes a great community of owners. I am part of many clubs and informational sites such as gaownersclub.com. The car is 5 years old and the only problems i have had are that i needed a new alternator and manifold gaskets. The New body styles are sleek and stylish, with the removal of the side moldings. The GT model of the car comes with all wheel ... ...It has a 3.4 liter v6 that pushes great torque and enough horsepower to fit your needs. The seats are very comfortable and spacious. The car also comes with a nice sound system with a built in 7 band equalizer. I would recommend this car to anyone i know. ...

Advantages: Nice looking Disadvantages: Many problems go wrong
I have had two Grand Am's in my 20 years of existence and I must say my car out of everyone I know (friends and family) has had the most go wrong with it from little inexpensive things to problems that cost me 100s (~700). Things that go wrong with my car are not correlated to my driving or how I treat my car. They are inevitable mishaps. I do enjoy my car a lot, it's a wonderful car besides the problems that I have had and it seems to suck up the ...

Advantages: It is one of the best cars that I ever owned Disadvantages: the only disadvantage is that some time the radio light does not work
I only had to get a tune up after 90,000 miles, and had to replace the tires once, by keeping the oil changed every 3,000 miles. The Pontic Grand Am rides smoothly and also is quite when driving. It is a great looking vehical. The design is pleasant to the eye, and you have a lot of colars to choose from. You can order direct from the dealer or from a dealer ship. It is a very low maintenance vehical if you take care of the vehical. the parts are ... ...all the modern safty devices installed as standard equipment. When driving down the road you will impress your friends and family with the vehical that you are driving. When you go to the grocery store people will wonder what you are driving and ask you all about your new car and ask you what kind of vehicla it is. ...

Advantages: Sporty, not bad on gas Disadvantages: Haven't experienced any
Recently, I bought a used 1999 PontiacGrand Prix. It only had 93,000 Kms on it. I am really impressed with the car. It handles great in the city and even better on the highway. When I bought the car I was expecting to get a winter beater but, this turned out to be a very reliable vehicle. Considering the year and size of the car, it is still fairly good on gas. It still has the factory stereo system in it, which has great bass and sound. This vehicle would make a great family car. I personally use it travel back and forth to work. I'm not really used to drive a bigger car although, the Grand Prix handles like a smaller vehicle. I would recommend the PontiacGrand Prix to anybody looking for a reliable vehicle for a family or for personal use. ...

Advantages: Decent V6 engine -- much better then the old 4cyl turbo Disadvantages: Still playing catch up
the Eclipse gave with its looks and style was nothing but a major disappointment the moment I became the wheelman. To add insult to the injury, the car sported a 185MPH speedometer as if part of a major prank.
These were my feelings for the Eclipse until they came up with a completely redesigned 2000 model. The side skirts seem like a major copycat of the new pontiacgrandam, but the car seems to have beef to offer. The V6 claimed to punch around 200+ HP, without a turbo! This is indeed a major design change. Although I was unable to drive the new Eclipse, I had the pluck to enjoy a ride at the passenger seat. I can tell you they have improved much. The front seats are much better then the earlier models, and in fact I don't have to spend minutes contemplating before I try to get inside the vehicle. Back seats, even though my friend told me are ...
has a better version of the LS1 engine that is on the f-body cars, and Mustang SVT Cobra is the highest model pony Ford builds. Everything else is just toast.
So why are these cars failing? Well, I blame GM more than anyone else. The Corvette C5 went through a superb re-modeling. It got better suspension and a computerized handling system that makes it one of the best sports cars in the world. What happened to Camaro? Its hood got a redesigned. Its engine went through a low emissions standard check. The suspension remained the same, and so did the interior. What happened to Firebird? Well, PontiacGrandAM and Prix went through a complete remodeling and a major add campaign. Firebird got an oil change.
The interior of the F-bodies are also to be blamed. Mainly the back-seats. I would say don't buy a sports car if you care about back ...
