Porsche Boxster 3.2S
Advantages: Fast, good looking, great handling, fun Disadvantages: Costs, maintenance needs
I recently bought a Porsche Boxster S 3.2. It's red with black interior, ABS, Traction Control, Trip Computer, Surround sound system and the usual Boxster bits.
I paid about £12K for this model, X reg, 84000 miles. Then the problems started:
1. Airbag light was on...needed new ECU costing £350 (dealer paid)
2. 2x new rear tyres...Michelin £200 each (dealer paid)
3. Emission Control light came on. Reset by Porsche £50...two days later, came on ... ...(dealer paid)
6. Front and rear CV gaiters needed replacing (dealer paid) 7. Front tyres needed replacing...£260
Having had all this work done, the car is brilliant. Very fast, 6 speed gearbox for shorter gear ratios. 152+ mph and 280bhp. Handles exceptionally well. 25 - 30 mpg; but driving like an old person got 35mpg.
Other needs:
1. Front brake hose needs replacing
Insurance cost £820 fully comp, tax is about £200 per annum, £70 to fill the ...

Porsche 944 Review
Advantages: Fun to drive-decent gas mileage Disadvantages: expensive to maintain
...you plan on letting a Porsche Shop take care of your maintenance you better just buy a new car. Labor rates on these cars are extremely high and Porsche OEM parts are out of sight. If you are thinking of buying a 944 you definitely want some documented maintenance history on the car. These models have rubber timing belts and have Zero valve clearance. This means if you break a timing belt the pistons crash into the valves virtually destroying your ... ...ice if you don't. Porsche came out with a rubber centered clutch disc on these models. I have seen these fail with as low as 14,000 miles. Be sure your clutch has been upgraded to the metal type. Clutch job in a Porsche shop can run 2000.00 or more. Just the clutch is around 700.00. I did the clutch job on one of my 944's. It is no picnic. Not like the old american made rear wheel drive vehicles where you drop the drive shaft and pull the bell housing ...

Porsche Boster S
Advantages: Beautiful exterior and interior. fast. turns heads. Disadvantages: Fuel consumption if driven daily
Well, we purchased our new Porsche Boxter S model, I don't know where to start, We ordered it in Atlas Grey Metallic Exterior color, with a black soft top, Full black leather, Bi-Xenon leadlights package 19 inch turbo wheels adaptive sport seats, Sports package the whole works! I was amazed when we flew up to Toronto Ont. to pick her up, Driving home to Nova Scotia was a blast, Power is unreal the car just roared down the highway, pickup speed was ... ...from the Z4 from bmw. The handeling in the boxter is amazing, the only better handeling roadster i think is the BMW z4, The boxter is very comfortable, its ok on gass, But this is not a everyday driving car for us. I think if your in the market for a porsche. Go with the boxter instead of the Cayman S. the soft top convertable comes in handy on sunny days. ...

LOVE IT!
Advantages: A really little head turner. Disadvantages: Expensive services.
...have just bought my 1st porsche - A 2.7 boxster manual. So far i am very pleased with it. I cant believe how cheap you can pick these up for now. My 2002 boxster with black leather cost just £8500! When decided what to buy i looked at a range of cars - namely the Audi TT, Porsche Boxster, Lotus Elise and Jaguar XK. After taking them all out for a drive i fell in love with the Porsche. It is so comfortable to drive for a sports car and the boot spaces ... ...weekend bag and a couple of bags of shopping.
Road Handling
---------------------
Great - mid engine car and quite heavy so doesnt slide around like some sports cars.
Comfort
-----------
Great suspension and the seats are really comfortable - no comparison to the Lotus Elise which is unbelivably uncomfortable.
Fuel Consumption
-------------------------
Reasonable. Obviously you wont get the same miles to the gallon as a Saxo or Fiat Uno! ...
