I recently bought a PorscheBoxsterS 3.2. It's red with black interior, ABS, Traction Control, Trip Computer, Surround sound system and the usual Boxster bits.
I paid about £12K for this model, X reg, 84000 miles. Then the problems started:
1. Airbag light was on...needed new ECU costing £350 (dealer paid)
2. 2x new rear tyres...Michelin £200 each (dealer paid)
3. Emission Control light came on. Reset by Porsche £50...two days later, came on again!
4. Clutch needed replacing...£870
5. Windscreen chipped (dealer paid)
6. Front and rear CV gaiters needed replacing (dealer paid)
7. Front tyres needed replacing...£260
Having had all this work done, the car is brilliant. Very fast, 6 speed gearbox for shorter gear ratios. 152+ mph and 280bhp. Handles exceptionally well. 25 - 30 mpg; but driving like an old person ...

Well, we purchased our new Porsche Boxter S model, I don't know where to start, We ordered it in Atlas Grey Metallic Exterior color,with a black soft top, Full black leather, Bi-Xenon leadlights package 19 inch turbo wheels adaptive sport seats, Sports package the whole works! I was amazed when we flew up to Toronto Ont. to pick her up, Driving home to Nova Scotia was a blast, Power is unreal the car just roared down the highway, pickup speed was amazing, This car turned heads! We upgraded to the Boxter from the Z4 from bmw. The handeling in the boxter is amazing, the only better handeling roadster i think is the BMW z4, The boxter is very comfortable, its ok on gass, But this is not a everyday driving car for us. I think if your in the market for a porsche. Go with the boxter instead of the Cayman S. the soft top convertable comes in ...

Advantages: Numerous Disadvantages: Some noise; 1 month after purchase developed white growth on hood interior (mold?); servicing is steep (well, what do you expect of a Porsche?)
have yet to be beaten at the lights (I laugh when they try!)
*no one else was stupid enough to part with £40000 that they didn't have (this was September 1998 - extras included leather sport seats, wind deflector, CD autochanger, Porsche coloured crests on wheels)
Tracker or not?
My insurance company did not specify that I obtain a tracker, AFN said it would not be necessary and I can see why. When I broke my ankle earlier this year and was unable to drive my Boxster not only sent itself to sleep but when those nice breakdown people (swearing their heads off)managed to get it started it took a very long time to do so. In order to get the ignition going, the battery had to be charged. The battery is under the bonnet which is accessed by an electrically operated lever which refused to work as the car had shut down.
