Why won't my CD player play CD's Advantages: Smart design and good value Disadvantages: Choosy about what it plays ...play OK except on the Goodmans machine – it just comes up ‘No Disc’. Unfortunately the machine went back to the shop to be exchanged for a rather nice Phillips, which plays everything with no problems. So far!. It cost 10 quid more, but without the radio or recharge option. As a footnote, I give full credit to Comet for exchanging the machine with no quibble and even offering a refund. I would however criticise Goodmans for putting no warnings ... ...Sorry if this review isn't glowing and up beat, and I hope the nice men from Goodmans don't turn up on my doorstep!! All you need in one great portable disc player Advantages: Jog proof, light, easy to use,Programmable Disadvantages: Battery life not great but probably as good as most with full shock protection This is the best personal disc player i've used. It's a nice silver With an easy to read display, the butons are nicely laid out & are different size/shape so you can feel the buttons without having to look. It's got plenty of features ranging from programme to random, recharges batteries, see full list below. The headphones are OK & have an in-line volumr control, It has a line out socket so it can be player through your car stereo or speakers( ... ...shock protection(jog proof) means you can use in the car or when out walking/running with no fear of it skipping and the DBBS bass boost gives it a really good sound no matter what you listen to. Goodmans Good Deal Advantages: shock resistant Disadvantages: overall size is rather large Why did I choose this persional CD player when there is a huge market for CD players out there, well quite simply because it was cheap and done all the things that I wanted it to do. This player had every thing come with it, anti-shock tray for in the car with all the kit to attach it to our outdated Car cassette player and also a recharger adapter. *Style & Shape* It is silver egg-shaped player with a circle in the middle containing all the ... ...a purple transparent donut. It is also available in different colours, pink being one of them. *Functions* This is quite a simple player and has just the basics, play/pause, stop, skip forwards, skip backwards. A mode button that you can set up on repeat or shuffle and a program button so that you can just listen to your favourites and not have to go through all the tracks. You get your Moneys Worth.... Advantages: Qiute long anti-shock, programming option Disadvantages: Chunky, fragile I've had this CD player for a year now, and it's ok. It plays CD's well and has a useful program function, along with random, which i like compared with other portable CD players i've had. The design of the player could have been better. It's quite heavy and really chunky, and only just fits into my 'townie' trouser pocket and my blazer pocket, so listening on the go is very duifficult, unless you have a bag with a headphone 'hole'. The CD player ... ...a blue circle on top. The LCD display screen is placed at the top of the circle, in a silver elongated oval. The ffour main function buttons are in a raised curve to the side of the top blue circle, in matallic silver, along a raised curve. Generally, the looks are good, but the blue circle is'nt something used often, and can look a bit silly. As far as sound quality goes, it depends what earphones you use. Sony D-NE1 Advantages: Great quality all around. Disadvantages: Poor software ...iPod broke, and my newer Sony HDD system is on the blink this little bad boy is still going strong! Pity they're being phased out :( Because it takes ATRAC CD you can fit stacks on CD's onto one CD (the amount depends on the quality you choose, but a safe bet would be around 25). My favourite feature of it however was the battery life, far greater than any iPod, because while listening the CD didn't actually spin as it saved it to a memory. This ... ...as it normally is with Sony products, and again I would say a lot better than an iPod. The whole build quality in fact was fantastic, it just looked so cool and elegant with the tiny concealed buttons around in and the brushed metal back plate. They just don't build them like this any more! ...
