Philips PET 716 Portable DVD Player
Advantages: Sleek, modern design, good quality screen and speakers Disadvantages: Battery life of just over 2 hours
A sleek but sturdy portable DVD player with up to 2 hours of battery life, good quality screen and speakers and mobile functionality. Recommended.
Appearance
The DVD player is very compact and attractive. It has a white outer shell and a black interior fascia. There is a flip up drawer on the bottom half where you put the DVDs in, which is opened by sliding the button on the front panel. It is smart and modern enough to be confident to use it on ... ...paid £70.00 for the player a few months ago, but I strongly advise other to shop around as I understand it can not be bought for around £50.00. It is well worth either price in my opinion.
Operation
The buttons on the player itself provide rather limited functionality: Play, Pause, Skip, Forward, Rewind, Stop, Menu and AV Out/DVD. It is by using the remote control that the player comes into its own. In addition to the functionality available by ...

Holly's Entertainment Centre
Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: No car fixing kit
...Darren then spotted the Philips DVD portable with docking for an Apple iPod whilst reading his Nuts magazine and the thought of another 3 hour drive to Wales and back again listening to Cbeebies or In The Night Garden just proved too much for us both. We checked out where we would be able to purchase the DVD player and found it on Amazon. So I went searching through all my survey sites so see what Amazon vouchers I had access to and cashed them all ... ...as I can.
The Philips DCP951 Portable DVD player with Docking for Apple iPods.
The player is black in colour 18cm high 23.5 cm wide and 4cm deep. The TFT screen is 10.5 cm high and 20cm wide. The perfect size for using in the car and for slipping into a bag to carry around with you. It is supplied with a 12v adaptor to plug the player into a cigarette lighter and a power adaptor lead to plug into your house sockets, a remote control and a ...

Durable - still working almost 2 years on
Advantages: Easy to use, USB port option, durable, easily converted to region free Disadvantages: a bit heavy, short battery life
I bought this at £109 delivered from LASKYS.com back in July 2007. No kidding I am one of those people who keep records of purchases - receipts if bought from shops, electronic invoices if bought via the internet. At that time, both Argos and Amazon are selling this machine but at a higher price £120-130. The reason for this purchase was that we were going for long car journeys on a regular basis. To keep the kid entertained while one of us can have ... ...the car. Also, it is useful for a caravan holiday when it is raining and there is no DVD player in the caravan. Since this is a portable 7" DVD player, I would not expect Dolby surround sound and cinematic picture quality. Also, it should be relatively simple to set up and use especially for a kid. It has all the basic features and a bit more - an USB port for pen drives so that you can either use it to play movies stored on the pen drive or do a ...

A Traveler-Friendly DVD Player
Advantages: Ideal for travelers Disadvantages: Battery has low powertime capacity
...Then I decided to buy Philips PET740 portable DVD player hoping it would solve the problem. The Product Philips PET740 is a very portable DVD player with its dimension of 4 inches in height by 24 inches in width by 16.8 centimeters in diameter. The weight of 1 kilogram makes it very light and handy. The control buttons are located at the right side of the base of the DVD player. The location of the control buttons is ideal for me. Some DVD players’ ... ...first time we used this Philips PET740 portable DVD player, my older son requested if the two of them could be possibly buckled up in just one seatbelt as I play ‘The Lion King’ disc so both of them could have a perfect view of the screen. It was a very good but a funny suggestion that honestly surprised me. I can trust the picture quality of this DVD player. I rarely experience interruptions while playing a movie with it. If the picture freezes ...

Advantages: Excellent picture and sound quality, five hour battery life on one charge Disadvantages: No SD card slot
...researching, I decided on the Sony DVP-FX730W – which came in at £99.99 on Amazon and included a copy of the Disney film “Bolt”. As I had £95 in Amazon vouchers, I only had to stump up a fiver and the order was placed. Inside the Box * DVD player * “Bolt” DVD * Remote Control * Instruction Manual * Mains Charger Lead * Car Charger Lead * Audio/video leads to enable you to connect the DVD player to your TV. The Sony DVP-FX730 has a massive five hours battery life, which is absolutely perfect for train journeys to London or for medium haul flights. This was the clincher for me when factoring in the pluses and minuses of various players and making my final decision. The first thing that I noticed when I removed the player from its box was how light this was in comparison to the old Shinco player. The player itself isn’t particularly ...
