Market leading by merit?
Review of Apple iPod classic 80 GB by readie25

Advantages: Easy to use, great screen, robust
Disadvantages: Putting videos onto device is difficult, no mains charger

The Apple iPod remains largely the industry yardstick by which mp3 players are measured, and for good reason. Good battery life, great storage capacity for the size, and excellent presentation and accessibility are now common throughout the iPod range. Headphone sound quality, however, is tragically average. However, there are also systemic drawbacks to the Apple range - first and foremost the iTunes store and obscure filetypes required by the iPod ...
...usability of the product that Apple so readily extols. Once the video is on the device, it does becomes easy to navigate through, but the battery life does suffer. The iPod remains the market leader, but perhaps because of a head start and initial monopoly of the market, rather than by its own merits. ... Read review

Sony gets the Job done.
Review of Sony Walkman NWZ-A816 4 GB by Socialism

Advantages: High Quality, Equalizer, Easy to use, Slim Design, Best free Headphones around
Disadvantages: Tendency to break if dropped

The Sony Walkman NWZ-A816 is an extraordinary hand held device that allows you to play your favorite songs, watch your favorite videos and look at your pictures in High Quality. Sony has never let me down, they are the first on my list when it comes to buying products. This hand held device is a must for all those who have been waiting for a great video mp3 player. It's simple to use, and provides great quality. This is better than an Ipod. As ...
...put my music onto the Sony Walkman NWZ-A816 from a Windows 2000 Professional Laptop with Service Pack 4. It treats is like a Jumpdrive and you just take your music from your hard drive and copy paste. Remember not to unplug the USB Wire at any time when uploading. This could lead to corrupt data, and that's never good, is it? One thing I didn't really like about the Sony Walkman was that it looked as it could break pretty easily. The screen would ... Samsung YP-U3 1GB MP3 with built in FM tuner
Review of Samsung YP-U3 1GB by JB53275

Advantages: Small Sleek and Sexy
Disadvantages: None

...a white version of the Samsung YP-U3 1GB mp3 for my technophobe friend a couple of weels ago and must say it is an extremely cool bit of kit. It arrived in a small plastic box which was extremely well presented and fit through my letter box perfectly. There is no seperate USB cable as the USB attachment is built into the player which slots out easily to connect to the pc. Synchronising music on the player is also a piece of cake and after an hour ...
...friend's favourite music. It also has a built in FM tuner which works fairly well in picking up stations. The functions on the player are very easy to use with touch sensitive controls and the blue backlit LCD screen tells you everything you need to know. It goes blank after a minute or so and looks like its switched off which I guess is a battery saving function. It plays MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG files and also features a voice control function. ... Ipod Killer?
Review of SanDisk Sansa Clip 2 GB by Pro-Review

Advantages: Light, stylish, GREAT PRICE, excellent sound quality
Disadvantages: 2gb capacity not enough to replace a HDD player

We get alot of gadgets through the mailbox at work and this little Sansa Clip 2GB arrived in a neat little package 2 weeks ago. Some of the first sansa players were labled as "Ipod Killers" and this functional and stylish player is no exception. Eyecatching design coupled with great features make this player one of sansa's best releases. The audio quality (Mp3 128Hz) sounded great, the volume isn't ear shattering or too quiet, they seem to have reached ... Read review

Sansa 1 gb clip black
Review of SanDisk Sansa Clip 1GB by nayfraggle

Advantages: small, easy to use
Disadvantages: none

The Sansa Clip is a small mp3 player, but in my opinion is better than others the same size, such as the i pod shuffle. Its small, stylish and black and has a clip on the back so is perfect for the gym or walking about. It also has a small display screen on the front. I tend to listen to the radio alot, which on this player is easy to tune in and gets great reception, you can also reset a number of stations which is handy. I found it easy to upload ...
...in my computer and you can just drag music across. The only bad thing is that it does not recognizes i tunes, and other downloaded songs seem to be a problem, but generally it is pretty good. One in the music section, you are able to scroll down the menu and search by artist or album and create playlists. It is only 1 gb, and as I have not filled it up yet, I am not sure exactly how many songs it will hold. The headphones that come with it are comfortable ... Read review
