Pure Digital Evoke 3 DAB Radio - top sound for a portable radio

Advantages: Great sound, great features, record to SD card
Disadvantages: Can't record one station whilst listening to another, no MW and not the most intuitive to use.

I pondered for ages trying to decide between the Roberts RD55 and Pure's Evoke 3 as I wanted something that had functionality to pause and rewind, record (specifically to SD card), play FM stations, have stereo sound and play MP3's as well as one that gave great sound and could carry base and wouldn't distort at high volumes but I couldn't find anywhere on the net that compared the 2. I knew the Evoke 3 had won loads of awards but that was in 2006 ...
...moved on so the newer RD55 could have improved or equal quality sound without having won any awards. In the end I realised the only option was to actually go into a shop and listen to the sound for myself (having a baby I'd put off doing that as it can be such a mission to get out these days!). The only local shop I found that had a good selection of DAB radios didn't stock the RD55 or the Evoke 3 but instead informed me that the Roberts RD25 was ...

...own many items which are Makita and i know that they are very reliable and durable for site work. I work on sites most of the time and i have never had a better radio. the sound quality is excellent..i was sceptical at first believing that a portable radio would not be so good but i was very wrong. i have had this for little over a month and it is a god send...a battery lasts for around 1 week which i think is excellent. the radio itself is very ...

Excellent quality, stylish DAB radio

Advantages: Excellent sound quality, looks great and easy to use
Disadvantages: Being picky, a colour display would be nice

I got given this DAB radio for my birthday and I think it is superb. The radio quality is top notch. It has a lot of radio stations on offer and the quality is consistently good. The feel of it when you pick it up is really nice, a sort of soft felt-like exterior. The alarm works brilliantly. You can put it up extremely loudly too so you can get blasted out of bed or just on standard volume if you want to relax in bed whilst having some good music ...
...setup needed either, it's just plug in and go...not sure how it always knows the time! The screen at the front displays information and for some stations gives the song name while it's playing which I find really useful. The radio is really eay to use with justa few buttons around a centre knob. Looks fantastic and plays well. You can also plug it into your iPod if you want to use it as speakers to, not sure how this works because I've yet to get ...

Great looking radio, Roberts R250

Advantages: Great to look at.
Disadvantages: Pricey.

...looked more original. The Roberts logo on mine looked somehow cheap compared to theirs. I love this radio and it sits in my kitchen where it´s used many times throughout the day. I love how it looks. I remember when I first got it being a little disappointed with the sound quality but over the years that I´ve had it I´ve got used to it. I do think they are very expensive to buy when you consider what else you could buy for the same amount or less ...
