Perfect In Almost All Respects
Review of Iluv I177 Audio System DUAL Alarm by
iToast
Advantages: Good looking, does what it says, easy to get working
Disadvantages: backlight comes on automatically too often
This product is attractive and slick enough to got well with any black iPod. I bought mine to go with my black nano, with which it looks very smart. It worked straight out of the box, which is SO relieving, and I've had no problems with it at all. The alarm is perfectly easy to set, and allows you to wake up to iPod, Radio or buzzer. iPod and Radio are the only two real options though, as the buzzer is the most ungodly noise to wake up to.
It allows ... ...to set the volumes for the alarms. The screen will display what alarms are set and what you will wake up to.
The Radio function has no problems with it, and works with AM and FM. The reception is good, although the FM receiver is a long wire which could get in the way and/or spoil the look.
The remote control comes with one battery which has lasted almost 6 months now for me. The controls on the remote are satisfactory, although there is no menu ...

Altec Lansing IM600
Review of Altec Lansing IM600 by
mulvo
Advantages: Portable, good volume, lightweight
Disadvantages: none
After looking around for ages I finally decided on this based on many reviews of many products online and from talking to friends etc. I am very happy with my purchase. The IM600 is lightweight, easy to fold up and carry around in a rucksack/handbag. While plugged in to a socket, your iPod charges as you play it, and when you use it away from a power source the lithium ion battery kicks in (up to 8 hours playback apparently, although I have never ... ...with or without the power supply, which I was really happy about. It also comes with a remote control which is handy and can be used from a good distance away! To top it all off it also has a built in radio and you can preset up to four stations. So all in all I really recommend this product! I have no complaints at all! ...

Funky little digital radio
Review of Roberts RD 49 by
cheyenne3918
Advantages: Mains and portable use, clear reception, easy to use; has FM reception too
Disadvantages: Best to use rechargeable batteries if you're going use it as a portable; no alarm function
My sister recently recommended this product to me as being "great value for money" and as having "crystal clear digital reception". I was in need of a small digital radio for my bedside which could be operated both from the mains and battery, so I popped along to Comet to see if they had any left in the sale. I was delighted to find that they had and bought one on the spot.
I tried it out at home, and found it very simple to use (and I'm not really ... ...small and easy to follow.
I was able to access more digital radio stations on this small portable than I could from our larger, more expensive Pure version, which had developed problems with the display screen lately. The reception is also far superior.
In a nutshell - a solid little radio, user-friendly, with excellent reception. I'm very happy with my purchase. ...

Good unit - shame about the audio performance!
Review of Pure Digital Chronos Idock by
JamesYeo
Advantages: Lots of features, love the energy saving mode on the screen and the remote!
Disadvantages: Sound on the Ipod playback isn't great
...radio is very good - Pure make excellent DAB radios in my view - I have 3 different ones and all perform well.
The Ipod docking unit is less impressive - I just can't seem to get a big sound from it - no matter how much I tweak with the audio settings - it just sounds weak and a little tinny. I usually listen to 5 Live or Talk Sport on the radio, so this is something that doesn't detract from that type of program. It does charge your Ipod, which ... ...is a bonus, it's just the sound is, well no better than adequate.
The screen is clear and very intuitive - I found it very easy to understand - the energy saving mode is very clever!
All this being said, I am pretty happy with the overall performance of the unit - and when all is said and done it wakes me up when I need it do which is the primary purpose (well that and test match special!!).
I'd happily recommend, but to reiterate, there are better ...

Gear4 Houseparty 24/7
Review of Gear4 Houseparty 24/7 by
TomTomN
Advantages: Excellent sound quality and style
Disadvantages: Screen
Its loud, its quiet, its light, its dark. The Gear 4 Houseparty 24/7 is an excellent speaker system for your ipod, or any other mp3 or walkman system. I have found it very good for listening as i go to sleep with the timer setting, as an alarm clock or at housepartys. Truly what it says on the tin. I have had it for over two years now, and in all that time the only issues I have found with it are the lack or a port for external speakers to plug into, ...
