Crystal Clear Reception for Phillips DAB Radio
Review of Philips AJ5100 by
jez.atkinson
Advantages: Smart design; easy to use front panel controls; clear, bright sound
Disadvantages: Preset buttons can be difficult to find; handle looks like metal but is actually plastic.
...years gone by. The Philips AJ5100 radio eschews this retro approach for a clean, modern design with a brushed 'metal' look one-piece handle and casing together with a silver speaker cover and piano black fascia. Unlike some higher end DAB radios, the Phillips unit does without a remote control facility and it does not have an alarm feature either. Neither of these features is essential however, and I have not missed either of these features. A series ... ...front of the radio and the preset buttons are situated on the back of the radio unit. The front of the unit therefore looks very uncluttered and sophisticated. However, this does mean a lot of fumbling to select the preset buttons on the back of the unit- especially when trying to delve into stations 6-10 of the 10 available presets, as you have to find the shift button as well as the preset button to get to these stations. I can't imagine many people ...

Altec Lansing IM600
Review of Altec Lansing IM600 by
mulvo
Advantages: Portable, good volume, lightweight
Disadvantages: none
After looking around for ages I finally decided on this based on many reviews of many products online and from talking to friends etc. I am very happy with my purchase. The IM600 is lightweight, easy to fold up and carry around in a rucksack/handbag. While plugged in to a socket, your iPod charges as you play it, and when you use it away from a power source the lithium ion battery kicks in (up to 8 hours playback apparently, although I have never ... ...with or without the power supply, which I was really happy about. It also comes with a remote control which is handy and can be used from a good distance away! To top it all off it also has a built in radio and you can preset up to four stations. So all in all I really recommend this product! I have no complaints at all! ...

Funky little digital radio
Review of Roberts RD 49 by
cheyenne3918
Advantages: Mains and portable use, clear reception, easy to use; has FM reception too
Disadvantages: Best to use rechargeable batteries if you're going use it as a portable; no alarm function
My sister recently recommended this product to me as being "great value for money" and as having "crystal clear digital reception". I was in need of a small digital radio for my bedside which could be operated both from the mains and battery, so I popped along to Comet to see if they had any left in the sale. I was delighted to find that they had and bought one on the spot.
I tried it out at home, and found it very simple to use (and I'm not really ... ...small and easy to follow.
I was able to access more digital radio stations on this small portable than I could from our larger, more expensive Pure version, which had developed problems with the display screen lately. The reception is also far superior.
In a nutshell - a solid little radio, user-friendly, with excellent reception. I'm very happy with my purchase. ...
