Philips SoundMachine AZ102N - The Soundmaster! Advantages: Good quality chassis, good sound quality, does everything for the price, looks nice. Disadvantages: Inbuilt handle could have been better, silver version better than white -preference. ...do not own anything from Philips but believe this was a good purchase and I am sure it will last. Overall an excellent CD/Radio stereo and would recommend it to anyone to is looking for a stereo for the kitchen, bedroom or office. While it is basic it does what it is told without any argument. A brilliant set of speakers! Advantages: loud, bass, good looking Disadvantages: fragile This set of speakers i bought from amazon a few years back. they are truly brilliant i used them a lot for use with my ipod classic and brothers ipod mini and they had great sounds. recently the dock snapped off it. Wakes me up (just about). Advantages: Small, sleek, good alarm fucntions. Disadvantages: Sound quality could be better at high volumes. I got this as a gift a year or so back, as I wanted a DAB radio to walk me up in the morning (to Planet Rock). This arrived in my stocking, and was exactly what I was looking for. It is a triangle shape, so it looks cool and sits on your bedside table nicely. It is handy here as the screen is constantly lit up even when off so you cans see the time, it has two brightness settings as well so you can have it to your taste but in all honesty the brighter ... ...a number of settings, primarily alarm settings as that is what it is designed for, so you can set a daily alarm, weekday alarm and weekend alarm which is very handy. It has all of the usual stuff like snooze buttons as well, so you can lay in bed for as long as possible before getting to to rush to get to where you need to be. As for sound quality, it is good enough for it's job, which is waking you up or just listening to the football or some casual ... I had been thinking about purchasing one for a while after hearing good things about this little radio and have now been enjoying it for about 6 months. Pure Digital Evoke 3 DAB Radio - top sound for a portable radio Advantages: Great sound, great features, record to SD card Disadvantages: Can't record one station whilst listening to another, no MW and not the most intuitive to use. I pondered for ages trying to decide between the Roberts RD55 and Pure's Evoke 3 as I wanted something that had functionality to pause and rewind, record (specifically to SD card), play FM stations, have stereo sound and play MP3's as well as one that gave great sound and could carry base and wouldn't distort at high volumes but I couldn't find anywhere on the net that compared the 2. I knew the Evoke 3 had won loads of awards but that was in 2006 ... ...moved on so the newer RD55 could have improved or equal quality sound without having won any awards. In the end I realised the only option was to actually go into a shop and listen to the sound for myself (having a baby I'd put off doing that as it can be such a mission to get out these days!).
