Are you about to head off on a well-deserved holiday? Are you looking for reliable, competitive Travel Insurance? Well, did you know that you could purchase cover through your local Post Office? The Post Office, in conjunction with Aon Risk Services Ltd, offers an excellent low-cost service. If you are going to be travelling alone, you can buy an Individual Cover policy: if you are a couple living together under the same roof and aged under 65 years, look for Couple Cover (which works out cheaper than two individual policies) or for a family comprising two adults under 65 years and up to three children under 18 years, there is Family Cover. For adults over the age of 65,trips of any length in the UK or trips of no more than 31 days in Europe are at the same rates as for under 65s,while trips to Europe of more than 31 days and trips worldwide are available are special rates. You can also choose to buy Single Trip cover, or if you are a frequent traveller you may find the Annual Multi-Trip cover a better choice. Your policy will cover you for most unforeseen occurrences - unexpected cancellation of your holiday, emergency medical treatment, including repatriation where necessary, cash benefits if you are unfortunately hospitalised; also, cover for personal accident, abandonment, personal liability, loss of luggage, passport and personal money, and cover in the event of hijack or mugging. Levels of cover and charges vary but are detailed in the booklet available from all Post Offices, or you can call 0800 387 858 or visit www.postoffice-counters.co.uk Larger Post Offices can provide your policy on demand, smaller branches will arrange for your policy to be sent to you (usually within 7 days). Or you can pay by debit/credit card on the above freefone number for instant cover. I have used Post Office Travel Insurance on several occasions and I believe it offers very good value and peace of mind, and I will use it again. One last thought…if you are going to be holidaying in Europe, while you are in the Post Office, ask for form E111 (E One-Eleven) Although not intended as a replacement for travel insurance this form provides extra cover if you should need treatment in most countries in Europe. It is free, and the Post Office will validate the form once you have completed it. The form also offers advice on immunisation and how to avoid health risks abroad - well worth having.
thank you, that was very informative! I know the PO is offering a lot of facilities these days making life much easier for us all. I know they do emergency foreign cash, if you wish to send money abroad, the recipient is given a code and can pick up at the nearest PO office that also offers this facility. I'll check out the insurance schemes too, thank you.
