I recently took out a insurance policy with the post office on my wifes behalf (about 3 months ago). Having gone to several comparison sites and brokers they were able to offer a quote about £30 cheaper than anyone else. Since the policy only cost £230. this represented a conciderable saving. We also recieved a postal order worth £50 after about 10 days of the policy starting which we were able to cash at our local post office. So esentially the policy was £80 cheaper than the next best qoute I found. I applied on-line for the insurance and after a couple of tweaks to my browsers settings (I Have high security settings, pop up blockers and the like installed) the application was very straight forward and took about 5 minutes to complete. I did contact customer services to confirm the policy was in place (this is something I allways do before driving on a new policy I worry about on-line things working) They were quick to answer the phone and helpful in answering my questions.
So when it came to replace my own car insurance I went with the post office again. I purchased a package saving me £60. on my renewal (£225) and am set to recieve the £50 cashback soon making this another great deal.
Unfortunately as with all the best layed plans we found a need to replace my Car before the start of my new policy , and to make life more complicated I would be driving my wifes car and she would be having the new one.
So I phoned the customer service number and explained all the details we were able to have it all sorted out within 10 minutes. The operator was very helpfull explained all the cost involved and guided me through the process without confusing me at any time. As my policy had not started there were no additional charges for me (changes to the policy dont attract an admin fee for the first month of the policy) infact my cover was £30 pound cheaper for the year. For my wife as her policy was part way through there was an admin fee of £15. This was not welcome but in my experience is a reasonable charge as I have payed twice that with other companies in the past. The policy did go up in price for my wife as the new car is newer and more powerfull however the cost for a full year was still cheaper than any quotes I found on the internet.
So overall we have saved around £190. on the two policies and found the post office very co-operative about changes in the policy. Most importantly they didnt take the oppertunity to charge us through the nose.
Its worth noting that both my wife and I are in our late 20s with good no claims discount built up and no accidents or points on our licence to report. I dont know how competitive they would be for "higher risk" drivers.
Definatly Recomended, I would suggest you at least get a qoute from them.
Good Luck, Karl

Hi. Good review. Just wanted to add - I am with the post office and they were the cheapest for me - saving about £40, then I got £50 postal order (£90 total saving) and I have zero no claims and had an accident in feb 06. The policy works out £110 more per year than when I was insured with 5 years no claims & no accidents which is pretty good going.
