Postman Pat seems to have got far better working conditions than ever before and this is clearly shown in his brand new children's televisionprogramme aired on BBC2 weekday mornings at 8.30am. Jack and I think that the whole show is truly brilliant and we have even set our set top box to record every episode as we are both well and truly hooked. (Especially as "Pat" is one of a limited number of words that Jack has in his vocabulary!).
Now the Postman Pat of old used to drive a small red van delivering letters of maybe even small packages. This new series shows Pat
delivery some of the most strangest things from bouncy castles to cattle! It appears that Postman Pat has got a promotion and is now Head of the Special Delivery Service meaning that he is the proud user of a number of different vehicles including a motorbike, large van with ramp and a helicopter, no less.
The show itself lasts for a mere 15 minutes but the whole time you are getting an action packed viewing which I feel far superior to the old Postman Pat who was loved by so many for so long. In fact Postman Pat has been around for about 27 years now so I do believe it was about time he got a promotion.
Most of the characters are still the same but of course with some new ones thrown in for good measure. Jess the black and white cat is still Pat's faithful companion on any delivery journey and will often get Pat out of a few scrapes! The producers seem to have made the programme overall more vibrant and appealing perhaps to an even younger audience than before.
From the minute the soundtrack comes on for this show Jack is glued to the screen and this s probably the only show to hold his attention until the very end. I even find myself drawn in to the somewhat chaotic life of Postman Pat and his mad cap deliveries that are always going wrong but you can guarantee that they will always be delivered on time!
Because this show is a lot different from the old one they have a new soundtrack which is still similar to the old one but with the "Special Delivery Service" part added in and the music certainly seems a lot funkier than it used to.
There seems to have been a lot of shows made in this series because it has now been on for a good few weeks and doesn't appear to be finishing anytime soon. I have also seen t for sale on DVD format in my local Woolworth's but the DVD does only have a selected few shows and not the whole series which is a shame.
I have enjoyed watching these shows and I would recommend them to anyone with a little one. I wouldn't say that it is particularly a little boys show as I am sure many little girls would be captivated by the quirky storylines and the bright and eye catching show itself.
My favourite sow of the series so far has been when Pat was delivery a space rocket to one of the residents in Greendale (via his helicopter of course) and because the ignition switch for the space rocket had been activated accidentally by a falling helmet Pat had to jump into the space rocket himself. The space rocket was due to fly in a completion and because Pat was cutting it so fine with getting his Special Delivery there on time he ended up competing in the race himself and of course he won the golden cup of 1st pace!
The stories that the makers of the show have come up with are truly sensational and they all must be off their rockers (or rockets!). However the show really does work and makes anyone want to be postman as it does look very glamorous! On the whole I rate this new Postman Pat series highly and hope that they will continue to make many more shows.
I think a score of 5 stars would be appropriate for such a well thought out and highly captivating programme such as this. Who would have thought you could squeeze so much fun into 15 short minutes of airtime. Well done. A VERY HIGH RECOMNDATION! Make sure you tune it to check it out for yourselves.
I hope this has been of some interest and or help to you.

Okay, I watched a few more episodes and I understand why its, "parcels through your door"...SDS works with parcels usually, not letters! Fair enough! But I still disagree with it! xx
