Also a mobility aid for disabled kids!
Advantages: steady, secure, easy to use, hygenic, Disadvantages: none!
My youngest son has mild cerebral palsy, so we were looking for a seat that would give him the very best security when sitting on the loo. We have a grab rail to one side of the toilet and he was finding the usual child seats too unsteady, which made him afraid to even sit on them. When we fitted this seat we were very impressed, and so was he!!! Its so easy to use and such a simple idea! More hygenic also in that you don't end up with a childs seat ...

No nappies anymore!
Advantages: comfortable, no spillages, easy to clean, sturdy Disadvantages: expensive
When my son was two years and a few-months-old he still did not want to use his little potty. One evening my husband went to the local John Lewis and bought him a very nice Baby Bjorn potty chair. It was also much more expensive than our old potty. I was not happy about it and wanted to bring it back to the store. However, our son started to use it immediately. There was one problem at the beginning; he could not get used to to seeing what was in ... ...the bathroom, wash the potty, bring it back and then repeat the process two or three times more. Then I found a solution. Every time he jumped of the potty I put a toilet paper on the top. It worked very well and he started to do it himself. It continued for a month or so and then he simply got used to to the surprises in the potty. He is now a four-year-old boy and he still likes using it. It is so comfortable that he prefers it to the toilet seat ...

A Very Smart Potty!
Advantages: Lovely deep removeable insert Disadvantages: A little pricey
My little girl has had a cheap potty since she was around 13 months old but would never sit on it and just pushed it around the floor like a car. At only 18 months old she is young to start potty training but we have had some success. The Baby Bjorn Smart Potty is a lovely sturdy and well made potty. It has a removable white pan insert which is excellent for cleaning and nice and deep to prevent spills. It must be really comfortable too as Imogen ... ...without getting pins and needles. It has a non slip bottom which has prevented it from being pushed around the floor like a car and is great on our laminate and bathroom tiles. It also comes in a great range of colours to suit you child or your bathroom decor.
At around £20 it is a little expensive but I would say most definatly worth it. ...

Ikea Step Stool: Step up to the mark
Advantages: Sturdy, fairly attractive, does its job and encourages imagination Disadvantages: A choice of colours would be nice
I took a trip to Ikea to buy a storage unit for my 1 year old son's bedroom and while I was there thought I'd get a couple of these steps to help him reach the taps etc when he's a little older. I would have thought you could get them everywhere but actually from my research online I couldn't find these small, cheap versions anywhere obvious hence the forward-thinking purchase whilst I was in IKEA. They cost £1.99 each and are fairly attractive in ... ...top and strips round the bottom edge to stop the stool slipping. They are a cheap, in-offensive, sturdy product which will perform the function they are meant for, or so I thought ... ... when we got home it turned out that I was completely wrong, I would never have guessed that a £1.99 stool could bring such enjoyment to a young child. My son climbed on it, used it as a drum, sat on it, hid things under it, stuck his fingers through the holes, put ...

The Royal Wee
Advantages: Easy toclean Disadvantages: My son removes wee defender
My son’s Royal Throne
I bought my son a royal potty from Argos after visiting a friend when he was one year old and Although I considered him to be to young to consider potty training I did want him to have a potty around so that it was a familiar item. What is the Royal Potty? It is a potty that appears to be more comfortable than a normal potty as it is shaped liked a throne with arms and a back. It also has a splash protector at the ... ...has an additional function that is a fanfare sound when the child passes urine that is activated by the sensor. It is made with plastic that is easy to wipe. It also came with a sticker reward chart My experience
First experience
When I first bought the potty we were living in temporary accommodation so I had to keep it in our room. This was where he was changed. I decided to sit him on it each time and ask him if he had a wee in his ...
