Powercolor HD4850

Advantages: good performance, keeps relatively cool
Disadvantages: it's not the 5770

Well, when building my gaming rig a year ago I came across a problem, I needed a graphics card and only had £100 to spend... The 4870 was still £150 and I saw one of these going on an auction site just under budget, "nice" I thought and bought it. The Catalyst drivers were pretty easy to install (though I had to update to the latest version to get a second desktop running, and ATi's catalyst program isn't recommended for those that are new to computing) It arrived and worked, but got extremely hot (by the time I'd got all the other equopment It was out of it's 30 days' warranty), I ran it with my case side open and found that the fan never span on it (Turns out the motor had burnt out from some idiot overclocking it) so I fitted a third party cooler and she runs like a dream now. I can watch full HD on a 32" TV I have, and have a 2nd ...

HTC HD2: Such a shame

Advantages: Beautiful, packed with everything you'll need in a phone (Texting now seems to work!)
Disadvantages: short alarm tones, MP3 alarm option not available, battery life may be an issue for heavy users

The HTC HD2 is well worth the wait, and the investment. For a phone of such startling size, it fits remarkably well into pockets, and even the small-handed seem comfortably able to use it. The device itself is stunning; at 4.3 inches, it has one of the biggest touchscreens on the market, and this screen is incredibly responsive, which is a credit most of the time, however it means that during times when more precision is needed, mistakes are easy to make, for example it took me a while to text without making too many mistakes, however HTC's XT9 predictive texting feature does help eliminate these. The screen is bright, scratch resistant and clear, perfect for movies and photos. This phone is also packed with features, including bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, 3G, internet tethering, and ambient light & proximity sensors. It runs on Windows ...

SKY HD

Advantages: Superb picture quality
Disadvantages: Initial price and set up

After all the hype I managed to get my Dad to invest in the HD box. He phoned the good people at Sky and managed to haggle the price down to around £100 off the advertised price and then had the cheek to also ask 'what happens to the old Sky+ box - can we have it installed in the bedroom thrown in'? Gosh Sky even agreed to that - so it's well worth having a chat on the phone and seeing what Sky can do for you! The box itself is simply Sky+ with extra's. The installation is a little irritating as the engineer told us that Sky are mega-security conscious. He said we had to leave everything turned on and wait at least 4 hours for the set up to be complete. He had to phone 'headquarters' to verify codes with them and actually said that took more of his time than the actual installation. He also said that he wouldnt be surprised if we had ...
