Power DVD provides all the features that a user will use day to day. While i am surethere are some people for whom there is no greater joy than to play with a multitude of buttons, however sometimes it's nice to be able to just bung in a DVD and get it going with no fuss.
This isn't to say that power DVD is spartan, it has many great little features tucked away, from screen preferences, to sound enhancing. However it provides a front end that anyone can use.
There however are problems, the first is that it's not the most efficient of programs, on a pentium II 400 with 64 mbs of ram i find that playback is good, however jumping backwards and forwards between scenes and within scenes eventually leads to disruption and break-up of screens.
The other problem is that the software is region coded, this may be some deal with the movie industry but it is very annoying. My dvd drive is not coded so i had hoped to avoid the whole problem. The program does however allow a limited number of changes ( 5 , then you must reinstall, you may only reinstall 5 times)
In conclusion one of the better players available, however not without some problems.
