Advantages: it's fun, good muscle training, very addictive Disadvantages: sometimes noisy, sensitive insides
the beginning, because if spun incorrectly, the powerball quickly develops little faults in its inner construction, which is made to operate precisely and rough handling will only result into powerball slowing down and being unable to reach really high speed levels. You should particularly avoid stopping the spinning by shaking the powerball or dropping it - it won't crack, but the insides will get shaken and the powerball will rattle and give weird "kicks" instead of rolling around smoothly.
The technique isn't difficult, even having no such or similar experience I got into it pretty quickly, but it's nt such a good idea to let all your friends to try and learn, else you end up with a destroyed powerball soon.
You need to start the ball using either the cord, some people can do it with thumb or rolling it on forearm, and then keep it moving ...

Advantages: A good workout for the forearms, and addictive too. Disadvantages: Sometimes tricky to get started.
starting it more difficult. Fortunately both ends of the cord have a plastic tip, and a sparecord is included anyway. I, as yet, have not needed to re-order any parts for my powerball.
Once the powerball is up and running, you can increase the spin rate of the gyroscope by smoothly rotating your wrist faster and in ever-smaller circles. As the speed builds up, the gyroscope starts to put pressure back on your hand and arm, working your muscles in those regions. At the highest spin rates, the manufacturers quote that 40lbs of pressure are exerted on your wrist and arm. Certainly, if you push yourself to the limit, the force exerted on your forearm is quite intense and I do always feel that I have had a good workout in that area!
One thing I certainly recommend is to purchase one of the powerball models that include an electronic rpm ...

Advantages: Addictive, strengths wrist, excellent returns policy Disadvantages: Some find it tricky to master, you'll never put it down!
I am still not convinced it can work the whole of the arm.
The powerball range starts from around £10 for a regular ball, but in my opinion it is worth spending a bit more (about £16) to get one with a digital counter. They then go up to about £60 for the 350Hz metal one, which is heavier than the standard plastic ones so should be an even better work out. I got the £22 powerball signature, this is manufactured to slightly tighter tolerances so in theory is a bit smoother, it also comes with a wrist strap, DVD and an extra spare string! Whether it's worth the extra is your own opinion, but I like the clear LEDs on the rotor as it stands out more than the regular ones.
The returns part of the company is excellent. After a couple of days my counter stopped working, I emailed them and it was answered with 2 hours, and like their ...
