Euphony business line deal
Advantages: Good service. Simple. VERY Cheap. No Contract. Disadvantages: Sometimes have to wait a few minutes on hold with crappy music.
...he was a consultant for Euphony that I looked into it as a favour to him. Before I joined he came round and looked at my BT bill and did a price comparison. What I liked about his approach was that he really wasn't pushy with it at all (he later told me that that was the sales approach he was trained to take but prefers as he's not much of a salesperson anyway). I have seen bad reviews on here and so I can only speak from experience but my experiences ... ...I have been with Euphony so far about five months and I'm saving roughly 50%. The basic gist of it is 1000 free minutes for the first 5 minutes of every local and national call exc. 0870/0854. This is perfect for my business as the majority of my calls are made within 5 minutes (I call other small business to take orders) and even after that i think it's cheap, something like 1.9p per minute. Calls to mobiles were cheap as well. The two things that ...

Cheap International Calls using Just Dial.
Advantages: Calls from 2p, many free using O2 contract, no extra bills Disadvantages: African countries not on 5p number
I have now discovered many Instant Dial services.
Just Dial is very popular and reliable.I have now discovered an Instant Dial Service from Modus Comms.
You just dial USA, Canada and other destinations at all times for only 2p. This is a very cheap call rate.
There are many European destinations also - again starting at 2p. Also cheap calls to India, Pakistan. In fact these are actually only 5p (including Mobiles ) and other sub continent destinations.

No technical support
Advantages: Cheap... Disadvantages: ...and nasty
I've been using 18866 at home and at work since 2004. The service used to be brilliant, and it has saved us a lot of money over the years. However, in the last two months or so, we have had a lot of "silent" calls (where we dial out, never hear a ring tone, nor the other person answering, but they can hear us). Dialling again usually results in a successful call. I see that you already noted this problem in 2003!! It's new to me, and very annoying. ...

All is fine until something goes wrong
Advantages: Price Disadvantages: Customer Service
My experiences with Onetel (now part of Talk Talk which is itself part of Carphone Warehouse) have been quite mixed. The line quality is fine, the costs are low (I only require a basic line in order to get my broadband service from another provider).
However, the problems have come since I moved house. Although I filled in the appropriate document online, nothing was actually done to close the line in my previous house (the new residents were able ... ...I had no line in my new house for several weeks.
Now three months down the line, I have been presented with a bill for more than £100 for activation of my line. BT said the work was not needed. Onetel didn't tell me how much it would cost. The service team in India will only quote what is written on the bill and it has taken an email and registered letter to the CEO to get a response. They cannot provide any evidence to support their charges but ...

CHEAP, BUT NASTY
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Poor service, poor customer service, pre pay, back bedroom...the list is endless.
I joined communications 2000 because they were cheap, but soon found out their service is awful.
They work on a pre pay basis, where you have to put at least £25 into your account to start with, which isn't the best setup for the customer, having to think about whether you'll be cut off if you run out of credit during a call.
Other services i've used usually have a 3-4 digit code you type in before the call. The amount of numbers Communication ... ...i realised it wasn't going to be as straight forward as other services i asked for my money back. To get this back it would cost me £4.95 as an admin charge. So not only do they sit on your money, they can't loose, becasue if you want any or all of it back they take £4.95 from it. To add to this they needed a letter in writing which i sent to them. This was ignored. Even phone calls asking for my money back were fobbed off. A year later they still ...
