Advantages so much fun

Disadvantages none really but there could have been a plank

Early Learning Centre Pretty Polly's Pirate Ship

Jack received this toy Pirate Ship from his Nana, my mum, Christmas 2009/2010 and it is still a much loved and played with toy even 7 months on!

The recommended age range for this toy is from 18 months + and even though jack was 2 ½ when he received it he still gets great enjoyment from playing with it as the games are far more in depth than they would have been when he was 18 months.

The pirate ship on its own retails at £25 but there was a special offer on which meant a separate toy, Pirate Island, could be purchased alongside for an extra £5 and I believe there was around a £7 saving on doing this so of course Mum was happy to get him another part of the toy.

The Pirate Ship itself is of a good size and has a good few sections which can be moved, opened or a little man can stand. There is a variety of 5 pirates that accompany the ship and they are all nice chunky figures make from tough and durable plastic.
There is also a small boat, a treasure chest which can be opened to reveal gold and a table which has a treasure map on.

The telescope which is positioned at the front of the boat (for obvious look out reasons) can be moved about in search of other pirates at sea and the crows nest which it stands by is a perfect place to put a bearded pirate! The cabin, which is purely for the use of the Captain has a set of large open out windows which allows the inside of the ship to be reached and thus played with easily.

If one of the other pirates gets rowdy there is always the option of throwing them bellow deck as a caged door swings open to allow this to happen.
The small rowing boat which accompanies the pirate ship has a magnet hidden inside that means it can be attached to the main ship for easy boarding.

The whole set is a real joy to play with and has been hours of fun for both myself and Jack. The only downsides that we have found is that there is no “plank” to walk but this has been easily fashioned out of some cardboard, brown crayons and some sticky tape.
Also none of the toys from the collection can be taken into the bath or paddling pool and they have too many holes in and are not able to float. WE did take some of the pirates into the bath but because they have air holes in the bottom they took on a bit of water and it took ages for me to get it all out.

Other than those two minor factors, the Pirate Ship from the Early Learning Centre is brilliant. It is strong and durable whilst being cute and lots of fun.
Jack really enjoys it and we have found so many playing opportunities for it. I also got out some torn paper and some old tea bags to make a rather realistic looking map which Jack thought was great!

This really was well worth the money paid and I would say it is a toy that will be played with for a good while to come by jack and then still be neat enough to keep for any other little ones!

A score of 5 stars out of 5 even with the two downsides due to the fact it is so much fun and such good quality.

Many thanks for taking the time to read.

I do hope that this has been of some help to you scurvy bunch!
