Scary how this site was such a big part of my life for so long and even scarier how many of you are still here and still think Ciao is full of real people. I'm off to bigger and better pastures.
I bought this a couple of years back and paid a tenner for it in a sale.
The kids absolutely adore the popcorn from it, and this normally comes out when they have sales at school. We make popcorn boxes and they sell it for 10p a box. Also it is a very handy accessory to have for sleepovers when you’ve got hordes of kids with stomachs like bottomless pits!!
The popcorn make comprises four parts:- a measuring cup/butter dish, a top cover, popping chamber and a collection bowl.
It is very simple to use. Simply place the popping corn into the measuring cup and pour into the popping chamber.
Replace the top cover and the cup. The cup forms a “bung” for the popcorn chamber, to stop the popcorn spraying out of the top.
Position the collection bowl properly.
Plug in and switch on. The popcorn normally takes around 3-4 minutes. Then you can flavour it as you wish, sugar or salt, (sugar for us, can’t bear the salted popcorn)
Now…………there are a few tips to ensure that you do not have popcorn all over your kitchen.
I normally cover mine with a tea towel as the popcorn has a tendency to shoot in all directions from the bowl. We are getting adept at “ducking the flying popcorn”. It states very clearly in the instructions to allow the unit to cool for at least 10 minutes after 2 consecutive uses. Why, you may ask? Well…………last Christmas we were having a manic popcorn making sessions ready for the Christmas Fair at school. I didn’t heed the warning and melted part of the machine. Luckily we caught it in time so not much harm done!
A handy little gadget for the kitchen and much more exciting that popping corn in a saucepan!
