I worked at Primark for four tiring months. You're really rushed off your feet in this shop: I learnt the meaning of hard work during my time there.

It's a nationwide shop, and can be found on most if not every high street.

The prices are low, and so the shop boasts very good value for money. Methinks they save primarily on wages: I earned £2.61 per hour when I was there in 1999/2000.

The clothes are of a good quality, but I recommend you buy your BRAS somewhere else. They aren't very supportive, and they give a horrible pointy shape. OTHER UNDERWEAR is very good, as are TOPS and NIGHTWEAR.

For me, as an ex-employee I can tell you that I was rushed off my feet: but kept amused by the customers shouting abuse at each other. It's easy to find help in the shop-- it's workforce is eager experience-hungry teenagers, and there are plenty of them, so you will be able to find assistance.

What I hated when I was there, was sorting shoes-- I'd be left with several shoes with no pair! I also hated the way the rails and the shelves are stacked too high. In primark you'll always find clothes strewn upon the floor. It's not that the assistants are lazy-- they just can't keep up! Hardened shoppers yank out clothes, look at them, then stuff them back into the crammed shelves. Invariably they end up on the floor or squashed.

So my point here, is to go in the week: Weekends are very hectic for every Primark shop. Christmas time? You'll find queues to the door. I loved it, it kept me on my toes, but not so sure the customers did!

It's the kind of shop in which you take a basket as you'll find so many bargains, you won't be able to carry them all. With TOPS from £6 and jumpers also from £6 and trousers at around £8, people would pile them into the basket and get to the checkout only to find they'd spent £120!

So, a great shop, but please respect the frazzled workforce!

By the way, if you're wondering, I left to take up a position at university to read languages. The only way is up!

although the clothing range is good.. the employee satisfaction rate is right down.. atleast in the branch i work in.. They treat you like they own you! humiliate you in front of customers/staff.. they have no communication skills. Some managers have their own agenda... and there is too much politics being played...
