Whether you call it Pr-ee-mark or Pr-eye-mark, everyone has bought something there or at least even heard of Primark. I visit my local store at least 2 or 3 times a week to see the new stock they have in. They take all my hard earned cash off me 

Primark History
============
Originally an Irish store, Primark is owned by ABF (Associated British Foods) Plc and is a large retail group now employing over 10,000 people. Primark operates over 120 stores in the UK and in Ireland (where it is called Penney's)
The largest Primark Branch is in Manchester, in Northwest England, having 100,000 square feet of space.
The chairman of the store has said that more accessible stores may open soon: "Large parts of the UK population do not have easy access to a Primark store. There is still plenty of scope for new sites in the UK and extending space at existing locations."The shop itself
==========
Stepping into the Swansea Branch of the Primark store you will be amazed at how much stock can be fit into such a small space and on just one floor. I will take you on a guided tour of the store: 'Please keep your arms inside of the vehicle please!'
On your right:
WOMENSWEAR - This section is the largest in the shop. There are hundreds of clothes on offer here, in many different forms, shapes and sizes.
  • T-shirts and tops. Hanging along the wall there is a rainbow of different coloured t-shirts. There is a large selection of print/motif t-shirts for only £3, at the moment the fashion seems to be cowboy-based so many of them feature western style designs. There are also a lot of cartoon character t-shirts in at the moment for the small price of £5. If you prefer plain t-shirts there are oval, round and v-neck ones for £2-£3.
Recently they have been stocking more 'going-out' style clothes. There are many to choose from including halter necks, boob tubes and vest tops. The vest tops are the best value at as little as £2 but for the more intricately designed clothes you have to pay a little more - normally around the £8 mark.
  • Tracksuits and sweatpants aka Gym clothes. I have a pair of these that I bought last year and they still look as good as new and are extremely comfortable. There are many different designs, plain, striped and spotted (I lied on that last one!) ranging from around £4 to £6.
  • Trousers. Many styles and fabrics. Jeans are great value - I bought a pair for £6 on Tuesday reduced from £12 - exactly what I'd been looking for. Also I bought a lovely cotton pair for Physiotherapy and they were just so comfortable and were only £6 too!
  • Jackets. Not many in at the moment but in the winter they have lovely coats and jackets starting from just £10. They will last you many a winter. The summer jackets they have are only £5 and they are nice and cool to wear out in the summer at the beach or walking in the sun.
  • Skirts and shorts - keeping up with fashion they stock the latest gypsy style skirts to the little denim mini's. Normally complete with a belt so you don't even have to go and search for one yourself. On Tuesday I bought a gypsy style skirt there for £5 - everywhere else I looked they wanted at least £15. What a bargain!

LINGERIE - From thongs to socks to bra's you'll find everything you'll need here at extremely low prices. The thongs and knickers have their own little stands (which get very messy when it gets busy - which is nearly all the time) cost £1-£2 and they stock so many different designs and shapes you can spend a good twenty minutes there choosing which ones to buy! The bra's are so low priced you'll wonder what's wrong with them. Nothing! Although they don't last as long as say a Wonderbra would, they have lots of cute and sexy designs to match your mood ;) The cheapest one I have seen was a nice lace one for £4! But if you're of a bigger size then don't bother looking as they hardly ever stock anything bigger than a C cup size or if they do it sells out fast.
The socks are £1 to £2.50 are you can either buy plain or buy ones with funny slogans and pictures on them if you're a big kid.HOMEWEAR - This was introduced in early 2003 and has been a big hit. In the Swansea store they have a very small section with a few candles, towels and bed-sheets. The candles are normally scented and cost a measly £1 while the towels and bed-sheets cost £4-£8 depending on the style you want.

ACCESSORIES - This section has grown more in the recent months and now accommodates bags, belts, shoes, hats, purses, jewellery. The array of bags they have is brilliant with lots of leather imitation and big beach bags for the summer for under £4. They have many purses that match the bags and they only cost half the price of the bag.
The big leather belts that are in fashion are only £5 whereas in somewhere like Topshop you'd have to pay around £10 more. They have lots of different styles that will suit any outfit.
The only shoes they have now are flip-flops mostly and some ballet pump style shoes. The flip-flops are excellent value if a little flimsy but for £1.50 you can't complain - buy a few pairs - it won't cost you much at all and you can have a different pair to suit each look.
To go with your bag and shoes why not buy a hat? They have baseball caps and nice straw hats to complete that beach look for £4.
The jewellery is very limited and is mostly bangles and bracelets in nice bright summer colours to go with your outfit.
Recently the sunglasses have started to appear and yesterday I bought a pair of 'top-gun' style sunglasses - reduced to a pound! Now you can't get cheaper than that.

BEACHWEAR - If you are going on holiday this year look no further. With over 30 different styles of bikini's and swim-suits you're bound to find something to take your fancy. And from only £7!

NIGHTWEAR - They have separates, sets of shorts and vests or t-shirts and trousers, nighties and negligees. You can mix and match the tops and bottoms to get your own style and they are nice and cool and comfortable on the hot summer nights.

MENSWEAR - I don't regularly go in this section, but they have lots of different styles of t-shirts, trousers, jackets for about the same price as the women's. There is also an underwear section for men but I'm not sure of the prices as it is not somewhere I'd go!

KIDSWEAR - Another section I wouldn't really go into but I know for a fact that the clothes in here are even less! There are all the same things as in the grown-ups sections - but of course different styles - for a fraction of the price.

The customer help desk at the back is very helpful and will give you a refund on your purchases for any reason as long as you

have your receipt.

They accept all major credit and debit cards. They never used to accept Solo much to my dismay but on my friends last visit they did so I'm assuming that they can accept now.

The store is always extremely busy no matter what time of day. Whereas people used to be embarrassed to say they shopped at Primark, looking around my city centre I'd say at least 50% of the women were sporting clothes hailing from Primark.

The problems with Primark are:
1. There are only 2 changing rooms which always have big queue. The sizes at Primark aren't always right so I like to try before I buy - but it's not possible unless you don't mind getting changed in full view of a room of strangers - which I have seen once or twice but is not something I would do.
2. The queues at the tills are always very long and there are not many staff manning the tills so the queues take an age to die down. This causes another problem as most of the staff at the tills so there is nobody around to tidy the clothes. Many are on the floor and get trampled on. This is the fault of the customers as they wouldn't be on the floor otherwise. I know I don't just leave clothes drop to the floor so come on people - help them out.
3. Primark is very cheap. Yes this is a problem before you ask because this has caused hundreds of women to come to shop here and now you cant even glance at a piece of clothing without someone coming up behind you either trying to see what you are looking at or wanting to get past you.

I regularly visit and normally come away spending on average around £15 a trip - which isn't doing my bank balance any good! But for that price I can get not one item but two or three - even a whole outfit!
I recommend that you get there early if you want to get the bargains as the shop starts to fill up soon after opening (there are normally queues outside mine!) and if you see something you like get it or it'll soon be gone.
It's great for wok clothes as they are so cheap and you can buy the same clothes over and over again if they get worn. You can even buy a plain top and experiment with it - make it your own. Buy some sequins and beads and hey presto - your own individual top.

The staff are all quite friendly and helpful but if it's busy don't expect great customer service - they just want to get you out of there!

I have no trouble recommending Primark to anyone. In my opinion it is the best clothes shop around - brilliant prices, great value while keeping up with fashion trends. Its not just for teenagers, it's for everyone! I regularly get positive comments on my clothes and when people ask where I get them from, I proudly say Primark!

Thanks for reading.

Great review. Primark is amazing. There used to be one right by me where I used to live and I've been lost sinse I moved away from London, but thank GOD there is a store opening soon where I am now. I notice how it's slowly taking over... and I'm happy. The undies in there are the best. x

Excellent review. I have to say that Primark is not my cup of tea. I do not think that they make men's clothes very well. However my girlfriend has some nice clothes from there.
