It's also supports writing Dual Layer media - 8.5 GB discs at 4x speed. If you're planing to buy DVD+-RWdrive than choose Pioneer DVR-108. Pioneer name means quality. This drive isn't very fast, but burning and reading quality is excellent. It uses RPC-2 region protection. You can change region 5 times and then you will be locked on the last one. This is only one disadvantage of this drive, but now almost all DVDdrives have protection from changing regions.

Advantages: Lightweight but good size, very sleek, reliable, good hardware compatability with other OS's, good battery life Disadvantages: No parallel/serial port (but its 2006 and you can buy USB adapters for those)

The DVD/RWdrive has survived almost 6 months of intense use, the internal wifi seems to have excellent range, and the hardware is compatible with linux without any difficulties (which was my main concern as i'm not too good at configuring linux yet :-).
One handy feature is the "fan" button near the keyboard. Pressing this puts emphasis on keeping the CPU running as fast as possible without turning the fan up to high...
