Advantages: Stylish, Very Quiet, Ease of Use Disadvantages: None
...This stylish harddrive from Western Digital is one of the simplest electronic things I have bought in years. Just plug it into your USB port, and it does every thing for you, no installing drives off CD's, which on some things I have experienced, can be very time consuming. It is also surprisingly quiet and very stylish and with 320Gb of space theres enough room for thousands of your pictures and music files. This also comes with a Fire Wire cable so transfer of your files is almost instantaneous. The cost is a little higher compared to some of its competitiors, I got mine for £99 from Amazon, but is well worthy of the price tag. I can promise, you wont be disappointed....

Advantages: Huge memory Disadvantages: Some of Toshiba's external hard drives have a separate power cable
...I recently bought a Toshiba 320gb extrenal harddrive off ebay to store my mp3's, movies, documents etc.
The capacity of the drive is awesome. 320gb is almost too big. It was easy to install and I had it going within minutes.
The downfall of the harddrive I purchased, is that it is big, it is an eye sore, and it does not connect to your PC/laptop via usb. It has a separate power cable.
My advice would be to buy a smaller capcity harddrive which connect via usb. 320gb is far too much unless you have endless amounts of files.
For £90, it does what it says on the tin. However, DO NOT pay over £90 for a Toshiba harddrive!...

Advantages: Fast except multithread read, good capacity, stable, 5 years warranty Disadvantages: Weak at multithread/multiple reads, a little noisy
...I've used a similar model for a long time and I have mixed opinions about 7200.10 harddrives.
The good things of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
Seagate hdd are the most stables drives in the market, I've used my drive for quite a time and never experienced a single problem.
Large capacity, 320GB is more than enough (300 Gb real)
Good speed, especially at writing data, but also at reading excepting multiple file copy. Speed is about 75-80 Mb at large files
The access time is about 13-14ms (about the same as other hdd)
Temperature IS OK.
Very stable and reliable
The not so good things:
Multitasking read performance. While on single thread the performance is high, 75 Mb, while increasing the threads, many aplications used the speed drops at about 5-10 Mb
A little noisy especially when many aplications are used
Conclusion. Good harddrive...
