The FireStorm 2.5" mobile drive provides super-fast high capacity truly portable storage to your desktop or notebook system as the push of a cable. This truly plug and play solution allows you to back your system drive up and keep an 'off-site' copy of all of your data in case of a catastrophic failure, or allows you to transport data not only between different systems, but between different sites - even different system platforms. If you have a requirement for high speed storage or cross platform data transfer, the FireStorm is made for you.

...This drive is perfect for backing up. Be it;
*movies
*Pictures
*music

It's simply a case of plugging it in and sitting back, it's plug 'n' play, so as soon as you plug it in, Windows will go through it's usual stages when installing new hardware and like magic, you now have a 100GB externel harddrive.
It's extremely quiet and fast, which is what you would like when backing up. it also has a 7200 RPM, 8MB cache buffer, it's USB 2.0 and 1.1 compatible (upto 480 Mb/sec, Windows and Mac Os) plus a Maxtor DriveLock to protect from unauthorized use.
If you want an easy to install external harddrive with no cons, install wizard, plus a little extra, then this would be for you....

Advantages: Small, fast, large cache Disadvantages: Expensive
...times. So overall it performs well. Seagate are a trusted manufacturer and have been around for a while. As far as I'm aware they have never made a bad device line, but then my HDD's of preference are normally Western digital.
The device uses an 8mb cache, this isn't a special as it used to be since many other 2.5"HDDs now use this amount but its still a plus point for the device. It runs a 7200RPM, this is about the same as many normal 3.5" HDDs but is quite fast for a laptop variant.
As I said before it is important to look at your need for this type of device, there are many other devices available that do the same job but for a far lower price. You should only buy 2.5" HDD's if you really need one and if you can't use anything else.
I bought this one new from Ebuyer for just over £100 inc VAT and delivery. Its now happily...
