...I bought this external harddrive a week ago from Maplin for £90. I bought this because of its 300GB size, and because it was an extremely good price for the size.
Seagate have a very good reputation for a good quality product for a reasonably good price. It came very quickly, and I saw that it came with BounceBack for backing up files. I installed it and connected the harddrive to my PC. The Seagate was found straight away, and it opened up in My Computer. I closed the window, and I opened up the BounceBack.
The first time you run it, it asks you to select if you want to backup 'My Documents' and your program files, or just 'My Documents'. Advantages: Sleek, quiet, ability to automate backups when files are modified Disadvantages: Desk space: cannot stand vertically
...Windows file sharing over a network: although the device is plug and play, if you have selected specific folders to share, always make sure you turn on the harddrive before booting the computer. Failure to do so can cause Windows to "forget" your shared folders.
FINAL THOUGHTS
As a backup solution for home users it is not as simple as Maxtor's "One Touch" range. However it is particularly powerful with the automated backup procedure which is easy to set up with its fairly intuitive software. A quiet drive in a sleek shell that will fit an office or home environment, at its competitive price (around £100 for the 300GB model means 33p per gigabyte!) there is little to dislike.

I used to have an 80 GBharddrive in the past on my "OLD" PC, which was about 5 years ago. Now i have a 300GBharddrive which i have to admit is filling up really quickly. Due to the number of files stored e.g music, photo, video etc.
This particular...
